YouTuber Kyle “Sketch” Cox, also known as TheSketchReal, attended fellow content creator Logan Paul’s ImPaulsive podcast and talked about how he plays a character for his fans. Sketch expresses himself with speech impediments and quirky hand gestures but internet users often question if he fakes his behavior.

ImPaulsive co-host Mike Majlak asked the YouTuber if the Internet’s claims are true. Sketch said that his character is a mix of real expressions and dramatic effects. He seemingly fakes his voice for his fans too. The YouTuber explained:

“I put on a show voice. Like, you know what I mean, like, ‘Yo!’ I would get deeper into that bag, like, when I was more nervous. So that’s where I’d do that. All of this stuff, that was natural at the time and, like, the less nervous I got, the less I felt the need to do it.”

Sketch Talks About How He Plays a “Character” for YouTube

During the podcast, Sketch revealed that his “face crunches” are real. He naturally squeezes his face due to a facial impediment. The YouTuber also wears glasses for showmanship even though he does not need to:

“I don’t need to wear these glasses, but like, I need glasses. But I, like, wear them because people recognize me with glasses. But like, even other stuff, like, bring up whatever you want to bring up because, like, it’s just me there, like, everything. You can think of, like, I mean, I don’t know.”

He also talked about how he involuntarily went overboard with his expressions which made him look “cringey”. The YouTuber added:

“I was, like, playing football with my friend, and I was, like, doing, like, it’s a Trump cadence with the Rick and Morty voice. But I’d be hyped up the whole time.”

The Youtuber Did Not Want To Be Known for His Quirkiness

Additionally, Sketch talked about how he used his iconic hand gestures naturally out of nervousness. However, he did not like seeing clips and videos of himself doing the awkward gestures which made him stop. He explained:

“I used to look back at like clips and be like ‘f*ck, I’m cringe. Like…I wouldn’t think I’m funny but  some people think it’s funny.”

Majlak pointed out Sketch’s gestures became iconic and synonymous to the YouTube star. Sketch agreed and weighed in on Majlak’s comments saying:

“Yeah, but I didn’t plan for being known for anything. So I was king of just like going…holy sh*t. What is going on half the time?”

Majlak agreed with Sketch’s comments and said he has a funny personality. The podcast co-host thinks the YouTuber’s character is not merely an act and his real personality is similar to he portrays online.
