With the Depths Expansion, the importance of these relics has increased, especially for obtaining the Rod of the Depths.
There are two primary ways to get Abyssal and Hexed Enchant Relics: fishing and appraising.
Fishing for Abyssal and Hexed Enchant Relics
Fishing is the most straightforward method, but it has extremely low success rates. The base chance of getting an Enchant Relic is 1/500, which means you will need a lot of patience. However, fishing in the Depths location improves your chances slightly.
During the Mutation Surge event, the probability of catching a mutated item increases. This is the only situation where fishing might be somewhat effective for obtaining these relics. If you have the Depths Key and want to avoid spending Tokens, this is your best option. Otherwise, fishing is an unreliable method.
Appraising Enchant Relics for Mutations
A more effective way to obtain Abyssal and Hexed Enchant Relics is through appraising. This method requires two regular Enchant Relics, which you can get by fishing or purchasing from an NPC. Merlin, located on Sunstone Island, sells Enchant Relics for 11,000 Tokens each.
Once you have two relics, go to Moosewood and find the Appraiser NPC. He is located to the left of the merchant. Hold an Enchant Relic in your hand and interact with the Appraiser to begin the process. Appraising costs 450 Tokens per relic.
Most of the time, you will receive the same relic back, but during the Mutation Surge event, your chances of getting Abyssal or Hexed Enchant Relics increase. This method is faster, more efficient, and more reliable than fishing. If you have Tokens to spare, this is the best way to secure these powerful relics.
