Will South of Midnight be on the Playstation 5?
No, South of Midnight will not be available on the PlayStation 5 when the game launches on April 8, 2025. Previous Compulsion Games studio titles like Contrast and We Happy Few launched on PlayStation consoles. However, in 2018 Xbox Game Studios acquired Compulsion Games. Therefore, although developed by Compulsion Games, all new games are now published by Xbox Game Studios.
South of Midnight is the first title that Compulsion Games have developed under this arrangement. Consequently, this means that it will be an Xbox/Microsoft exclusive.
Other titles such as Hi-Fi Rush and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle were originally Xbox exclusives, but after several months were released on PlayStation 5. It’s possible that the same may happen with South of Midnight. However, currently, neither the developer nor the publisher have made any announcements.
How to Play South of Midnight
To play South of Midnight when it launches on April 8, 2025, you will need to have an Xbox Series X/S console. Additionally, you can also buy the game through Steam on PC.
Secondly, you can also play South of Midnight on day one if you have a subscription to Game Pass. This applies to both Xbox and Microsoft PC Game Pass subscriptions.
Finally, you can choose to buy the game in Standard or Premium editions. If you purchase a Premium edition, then you can play the game five days early starting on April 3, 2025. The only way to get the early access is by purchasing the premium edition of the game. It will not launch early on any of the subscription services.

South of Midnight is an upcoming action-adventure game developed by Compulsion Games, known for their work on titles like We Happy Few. The game is set in a fictional version of the American South. The game follows a linear path, with branching areas to explore, much like recent God of War titles. There will be platforming, puzzle solving, and challenging boss combat encounters that you will need to clear to see the adventure through.
