The brand new Ambush-Hitting operates on a risk-reward mechanic in the game. For obvious reasons, you can only use it when you are getting pitched to, waiting to “hit” the ball. So whenever you are in the batter’s box, you will have an option to guess whether the pitcher will throw the ball in the middle-in or middle-away. This simply means you just have to guess whether the ball will be thrown to the inside or outside of the plate.

Guess it right, and your PCI (Plate Coverage Indicator) will grow. As a result, you will be able to hit the ball easily with more forgiving timing. However, if you guess it wrong, the PCI will shrink, making hitting that much difficult. Since Ambush Hitting can only be accessed via the Zone Hitting Interface, you would want to ensure this requirement is met by going into the Controls and under the Hitting section.

NOTE: These tips are not official and reflect the writer’s experience.

  • Try learning the pattern of the pitcher/player to determine where they might pitch their next ball.
  • Set your mind to one side, whether the left or right side of the plate. This will help you stay focused and not change your decision in a panic.
  • When you confirm a side, it will be highlighted in faint white. However, you will still need to adjust your PCI swing to hit the ball.
  • There is no guarantee that you will hit a Home Run each time with the perfect Ambush Hitting. So, stay focused even if you think you selected the correct pitch side.
