Everything you need to know about Aratra in The First Berserker Khazan, including the boss’ weaknesses, how to defeat it, and more.

Aratra is one of the mid-game bosses in The First Berserker Khazan and one that can be quite a challenge. While the boss isn’t technically all that difficult, especially when contrasted against the likes of the Blade Phantom and the Viper, Aratra is still fairly challenging, especially for early to mid-game. Not only does Aratra have a ton of health (HP), but it also has the ability to inflict Venom. Furthermore, the boss can also summon Exploding Spiders in the arena, periodically, which drastically increases the difficulty of the battle. Thankfully, the Aratra has a ton of weaknesses that you can exploit to get an upper hand in the battle and defeat her.
Here’s a comprehensive boss guide on how to easily defeat the Aratra in The First Berserker Khazan.
How To Unlock the Aratra in The First Berserker Khazan?

The Aratra is the final boss of the Skoffa Caves region in The First Berserker Khazan. Since it’s a mandatory main story boss, you cannot miss the Aratra. As the guardian and lord of the spiders in the Skoffa Cave, the Aratra is incredibly powerful and also commands other arachnids within the area.
During the boss fight, the boss occasionally retreats into one of the several caves in the arena. She often does this to heal herself, but most importantly, she takes this opportunity to call upon other arachnids, in particular, the Exploding Spiders. Similarly to the other spiders in the region, Aratra inflicts Poison with her attacks. However, her poison is inflicted as Venom.
The Venom is essentially a more potent form of the Poison elemental status. Much like Poison, Venom also gradually decreases HP. However, the rate at which it saps HP is significantly higher compared to Poison.
Furthermore, Venom is inflicted much faster as well. Aratra can essentially inflict Khazan with Venom in just a few swipe attacks. In later phases of the boss fight, Aratra performs a multi-hit combo, which is bound to inflict you with Venom unless you can Perfect Guard the entire combo chain.
However, since she’s a spider, Aratra shares the same weaknesses as her brethren. Much like the Yetuga or the Viper, you can inflict damage to specific parts of the Aratra to break them.
The front legs, as well as the spider’s back, can be broken, which significantly reduces the number of attacks the boss has available to herself. Furthermore, you can also prevent Aratra from jumping into the caves by either hitting her with the Javelins or blocking those caves beforehand.
Strategy To Easily Defeat the Aratra

Before you enter the boss arena, you will find three abandoned caves filled with explosives. The first two caves can be found close to the very first Nexus that you unlock in the Skoffa Caves. The final cave can be found near the last Nexus, close to the boss’ arena. Head inside these caves and ignite the explosives.
Doing so will block the caves from where the Explosive Spiders enter the Aratra’s boss arena. This will massively reduce the difficulty of the boss fight since you won’t have to focus on the additional spiders. Furthermore, blocking all 3 caves will block Aratra from jumping into them in the earlier parts of the boss fight. This gives you more time to dish out damage to the boss.
Additionally, when you break Aratra’s legs or back, she will try to heal herself and grow those parts back by jumping into the caves. Blocking the caves beforehand prevents her from doing that early in the boss fight. As such, you get more time to capitalize on the boss’ broken state.
Tips for the Aratra Boss Fight
Here are some general tips that will help you get through the Aratra boss fight easily:
- Use Poison Resistance potions and armor. We highly recommend equipping at least 3 pieces of the Slayer set, which you can farm from the big spider enemies before the boss fight.
- During the first half of the boss fight, focus on breaking Aratra’s front legs. We recommend using either the Greatsword or Dual Wield for this battle.
- Aratra has a couple of grab attacks that she performs after a regular combo. You can easily dodge these attacks by sidestepping to the right or the left. Do not dodge backward or toward the boss.
- The Aratra is quite weak to Fire and Earth. Using weapons with these elemental properties will speed up the process of breaking the boss’ limbs.
- Once you break the front legs, move behind the boss and attack its back. Once you break the back, Aratra will be incapable of inflicting Venom.
- Repeat this process twice, and you will easily defeat Aratra.
