Discover the five games with multiple playable characters that are the most adored and praised by players.

Not all games are restricted to simply one playable character, as is usually the norm. However, some games went a step beyond and added multiple playable characters into the mix. Additionally, these characters have their own unique attributes and properties, making them stand out from the rest. So, we will be mentioning five games with multiple playable characters.

1. Grand Theft Auto V

It can be argued that Grand Theft Auto V popularized the concept of having more than one playable character. Rockstar added three different protagonists in the main story of GTA V, and gave each of them their own unique story. Players get to control each character once they reach different points in the story by default. These characters will also interact with each other at certain points in the main story. Alternatively, players can also seamlessly switch between each playable character to enjoy side activities.
Rockstar’s implementation of multiple playable characters is widely praised to this day and has become a benchmark for other games.
2. Resident Evil 2 Remake

While there is no seamless switching between characters in Resident Evil 2 Remake, it still offers two playable characters. Players get to control Leon and Claire at different points in the story automatically. In addition, the major difference between the characters is that they have their own unique story that eventually converges at certain points. Furthermore, they get their own unique weapons, making the experience fresh.
3. Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 features both Henry and Godwin as playable characters in the story. While the gameplay is still the same across both characters, Warhorse still made them stand out. Godwin has more perks in Warfare and Swords, as he is much more experienced than Henry in combat. Additionally, Godwin gets his own missions in the game, and they are completely different when compared to Henry’s.
These differences make the gameplay experience refreshing, being a testament to Warhorse’s brilliance in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. Additionally, the dialogue between NPCs also changes when you play as Godwin, further adding to the game’s immersive aspect.
4. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

Rebirth uses the same party system that the Final Fantasy series is known for, and takes it up a notch. Players can seamlessly switch between their party members mid-combat, allowing them to use each member’s abilities and limit breaks efficiently. In addition, while players mostly control Cloud Strife in the open world, they will be allowed to play as other party members at different points in the story.
It can be easily said that Rebirth is the best implementation of multiple playable characters, if we talk strictly from a gameplay perspective.
5. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 features multiple playable characters at different points in the story. You can play as Mary Jane, Venom, and Miles Morales alongside Peter Parker. These three characters provide a gameplay experience that is completely unique and different. While Mary Jane’s sections are based on stealth, Venom is more of a rampaging brute that destroys everything in his path.
Additionally, Miles plays very similarly to how he did in his own game, with more abilities. With how the game shifts between playable characters to keep the experience fresh, it is yet another brilliant implementation of this concept.
