Unlocking Jesse in No Return requires a few important steps. The first step involves playing with Ellie. Both Ellie and Abby are the playable characters from the get-go. Only after completing a certain number of encounters with each of them will you start unlocking the rest. While Ellie unlocks the characters she is close with, Abby unlocks her group of characters. After completing two encounters with Ellie, you unlock Dina. Once you complete three encounters with Dina, Jesse becomes a playable character.

Jesse’s Character in No Return Playstyle in Last of Us 2, No Return

Jesse is one of the supporting characters in The Last of Us Part 2. He is the ex-boyfriend of Ellie’s love interest, Dina, and the patrol leader in the community in Jackson. He is also known for being a pillar of the community for his empathetic side and his willingness to put the needs of others before his own. Jesse is the type of player who can be used effectively in either stealth-style gameplay or if you would even like to go guns blazing.

He gets a major advantage in the shop with 30% more currency than all the other characters, as well as unlimited rerolls in the trading post to buy new inventory. Jesse begins his round with a military pistol, a silencer, a pipe bomb, and a recipe for both the silencer and pipe bomb. He is also entitled to the Guerilla Upgrade Bench.

The Guerilla upgrade bench is a series of three stages. Each stage plays a role in enhancing Jesse’s play style, be it for sneaking around the map or blowing up anyone in his path. Let’s look at the stages and the advantages they provide.

1. Improved Silencers: The first stage acts as the recipe to prolong the duration of your silenced pistol. Now you can shoot not three but five bullets before the durability runs out.
2. Improved Pipe Bombs: The second stage focuses on strengthening your pipe bombs’ destructive radius by 50%.
3. Craft more Pipe Bombs: With the last stage, you will not only have a wider range of annihilation, but you will also be able to craft three of these bad boys at the same time while also being able to holster six of them at once. Being able to carry this many bombs feels like a cheat code, considering their ability to erase any obstacle in your path.
