This guide helps solve the puzzle related to the VAC indicators in Blue Prince. Find out what the switches are for and how to operate them.
Blue Prince lets you draft a wide range of rooms in a huge manor, with each room holding its own secrets. While your ultimate goal is to reach Room 46, you’ll need to go through several other rooms to finally get there. One of those rooms is the Utility Closet. It is one of the most important rooms in the game because it houses a breaker that lets you control power for many of the other rooms in the manor.
But, besides the power buttons, the breaker also includes six switches marked VAC indicators. Hitting these switches seems to do nothing, but that’s because there is a particular order you have to follow. In this guide, we’ll provide the solution for the VAC indicators in Blue Prince.
How To Find the Hints for the VAC Indicators in Blue Prince
You won’t be able to blindly solve the VAC indicator puzzle without some help or hints pointing you toward the right direction. The game provides these hints, all of which are hidden in different sections or areas. Here is a list of places where you get the necessary hints:
- Office room emails
- Mail room
- Ninth letter from the Laboratory experiments
Going through these letters will help you piece together the correct order in which you need to flip the VAC indicator switches.

How To Solve the VAC Indicators in Blue Prince
If you’re unable to get the right order or simply don’t want to go hunting for the hints, here’s the solution to this puzzle. The goal is to achieve a sequence of Gray, Blue, Green, White, Red, and Purple. Here are the steps to follow:
- Step 1: Press every button once to set all of them to green.
- Step 2: Click the first or sixth button to make it blue.
- Step 3: Press the button right next to the blue button to make it red.
- Step 4: Press the blue switch to turn the red button purple.
- Step 5: Press the purple button to make it blue.
- Step 6: Repeat the same steps to make five out of the six buttons blue.
- Step 7: Press the separated blue button to move it to the adjacent spot.
- Step 8: Click on the only gray button two times to turn it red.
- Step 9: Click on the blue button just beside the red one to make it purple.
- Step 10: Keep repeating steps 8 and 9 until five of the buttons turn purple.
- Step 11: Click on the one gray button thrice to make it purple.
- Step 12: Press the 4th button from the left once to make it white.
- Step 13: Press the 5th button from the left to make it blue.
- Step 14: Click the last button until it turns red.
- Step 15: Click on the 5th button from the left once to make the 6th button purple.
- Step 16: Press the 5th button until it turns red.
- Step 17: Press the third button from the left twice. This will make the third button gray and the 2nd button will turn blue.
- Step 18: Press the third button once more to make it green.
- Step 19: Click on the first button from the left-hand side until it turns gray.
Once you solve the VAC indicator puzzle, the wall will split and reveal an electrical box. Interact with it to receive a permanent bonus of starting each day with 2 gems.
