You run through an ever-changing, seemingly randomized landscape every day, gathering resources and venturing deeper. Each day counts as a run, and each run gets you closer to completing your goal and finding Room 46.
Finding Room 46 is no joke, however. You frequently stumble across shops, locked doors, locked trunks, and so much more. Each of these harbors valuable items, all of which serve to help you get closer to the ending. Locked trunks, especially, are relatively common, and you will stumble across them often. The game provides you with a few ways to open these trunks, but it costs other resources.

As stated earlier, you can open locked trunks in Blue Prince, but you’ll have to do so at the cost of other resources. Using keys is your main way to open the locked trunk. Simply approach the trunk with a key in hand and interact with it. Click on the ‘Use’ button with the key icon to open the trunk. If you’re running short on keys, we recommend exploring the Garage or the Storeroom. These rooms have keys that you can collect and stock up on.
If you’re unwilling to exhaust your keys to open the trunks, you can also rely on the trusty sledgehammer. The hammer is a more efficient way to break open the trunk as it is an inexhaustible resource. This means that you can use it an infinite number of times with no issues and never run into the issue of running out of uses as you would for the keys. You can opt to do it either way, but know that the sledgehammer costs you gold to purchase. Pick the option that best suits your resource situation in-game.
