2. Devil May Cry 5
Devil May Cry 5 arguably has the best combat system in any game. It allows you to create almost any kind of combo you want and adopt any kind of playstyle. The sky is the limit here, as all of the playable characters have a lot of depth and hidden mechanics. For example, jump cancelling as Dante and Nero allows for combo extensions, and incorporating other weapons can extend the combo further.
Mastering Dante’s different stances also requires skill, and the reward you get is that Dante becomes nigh unbeatable.
3. Batman: Arkham Knight
Hailed by many to be the best superhero game, Arkham Knight also has a phenomenal combat system. The free-flow combat system is at its peak here, as Rocksteady added different takedowns, gadgets, and the ability to disarm enemies. Additionally, there is much more variety in the stealth in this game, thanks to the Fear Multi Takedown, allowing Batman to instantly dispatch multiple unaware enemies.
The combat system shines especially in the AR challenges, where players are thrown against a massive horde of enemies. Here, knowledge and skill are very important in obtaining a high score.
4. God of War 3
The combat in God of War 3 is very versatile, similar to the Devil May Cry series. Kratos is given an arsenal of weapons, alongside different skills that shine when incorporated into combos. Additionally, there is a dedicated jump button that is imperative in extending combos, as Kratos can execute multiple jump attacks and skills.
Coupled with this, God of War 3 consists of some of the best bosses that Santa Monica has ever made. All of these factors make God of War 3 one of the best games ever, and in my opinion, the best God of War game.
5. Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
Kingdom Come Deliverance features hyper-realistic sword fighting, as Warhorse took inspiration from real-life swordsmen. As a result, it is the closest thing to practicing swordfighting without actually doing it in real life. As Warhorse has further refined the combat in their sequel, it makes it the perfect game to experience this combat system with.
It has different swordfighting techniques, a perfect parry, and combos that make it very addictive and fun. It truly shines in dueling a high-level Knight who has the same abilities as you.
