With this update, players will be able to customize the home screen of the PS5 to mimic the look of the older models: The PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

These options were available to players once before, during PlayStation’s 30th Anniversary Celebration. Although they were only available for a limited time then, they are now back to stay after an overwhelming positive response.

This feature to change the UI can be found in the settings menu, under the ‘Appearance’ tab. From there, you can choose between five options: Default, PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4.

PlayStation Adds New Audio Focus Feature

Audio focus is a new feature that will amplify soft sounds as per your preferences. This feature will ensure a clearer audio experience. Moreover, it will deepen your immersion in a game.

The way this feature works is through the use of presets. You can choose from a range of presets to enhance the volume of certain sounds, such as footsteps or dialogue.

The four preset options that you can choose from are:

  • Boost Low Pitch: This will amplify low-frequency sounds like rumbling noises.
  • Boost Voices: This will amplify things like character dialogue and voice chats. It will also boost other middle-frequency sounds.
  • Boost High Pitch: This will amplify high-frequency sounds like footsteps or metallic noises.
  • Boost Quiet Sounds: This will amplify low-volume sounds over all frequencies.

You will also be able to choose the level of audio enhancement from three different levels: weak, medium, and strong. Additionally, you can adjust the level of audio support for the left and right sides of your headset individually.

Note that the audio focus feature will only be available for headsets connected through either USB or the headphone jack.
