Verso, voiced by Ben Starr, was one of the most mysterious figures in the game before its launch. This character uses his unique Perfection mechanic to rank up in the middle of battle.
This Perfection mechanic demands that you be perfect in battle. Every attack, dodge, and parry that you perform makes your Perfection rank up, increasing the damage of certain skills and lowering their AP cost.

Best Attributes For Verso in Clair Obscur Expedition 33
There are multiple ways to build Verso, however, two stats which you should focus on are Agility and Luck. Agility will increase his speed and make his turns show up faster, which will be an easy way to build up his Perfection rank.
Luck is just generally good for landing more critical hits. Along with these two, you could also level up Vitality as well, to wield some good weapons.
Best Weapons For Verso in Clair Obscur Expedition 33
Verso’s playing style goes through the most changes depending on the weapon he wields. Many weapons change how Perfection will be gained or lost.
Sireso is a great weapon if you don’t care about Verso’s personal damage and instead want to buff the whole team. Delaram is also another option to consider if you are confident in your ability to dodge or parry, since this weapon starts off the battle with your health at 50%. However, to offset this penalty, your rank starts at B and the Powerful status.
Gaulteram is another decent choice, since it gives you more leeway to get hit and not lose your Perfection ranks.
Best Skills For Verso in Clair Obscur Expedition 33
Verso has a bunch of offensive and support skills that can be used in battle. Your skills will depend on the role you want Verso to play.
- Berserk Slash: Medium single-target Physical damage. Three hits. Damage is increased for each health Verso is missing. Damage increased at C rank. (Pair this with Delaram for B rank Perfection bonus, combined with 50% missing HP for a lot of damage.)
- Assault Zero: Low single-target damage. Five hits. Uses weapon’s element. Critical Hits generate 1 additional Perfection. Damage increased at B rank. (Same as before, works well with Delaram.)
- Defiant Strike: Deals high single-target Physical damage that applies Mark for two hits. Costs 30% of the current Health. Damage increased at B rank.
- Light Holder: Medium single target Light damage. Five hits. At completion, gains 1 Rank. Gives Verso +2 AP at A Rank.
- Overload: Increases Rank to S and refills all AP but sets self-Health to 1. (Only use this when confident that you can survive the next turn, to heal back your health.)
- Leadership: Reduces current Rank. Gives 2-4 AP to other allies. Gives +1 more AP at C Rank.
Best Pictos and Luminas For Verso in Clair Obscur Expedition 33
- SOS Power: Apply Powerful when falling below 50% Health.
- SOS Rush: Apply Rush when falling below 50% Health.
- Dodger: Gain 1 AP on Perfect Dodge. Once per turn.
- Energising Parry: +1 AP on successful Parry.
- Sweet Kill: Recover 50% Health on killing an enemy.
- First Strike: Play first. (Useful in a support build, where he can start applying buffs at the start of battle, even if he doesn’t have higher Agility)
The first two of the above work well only with Delaram or if you use Overload, as it automatically sets your health to 50%. Using Defiant Strike after that will put well into the zone needed to get Rush and Powerful activated.
