The Midnight Walk has two endings for players to choose from. It’s a simple choice they will have to make once they start burning the machinery/contraption at Moon Mountain between ‘Burn‘ and ‘Stop‘. Thankfully, the game gives a save point just before you make this decision.
Nevertheless, which choice should you make, and what do the two endings show?
Should You Burn Or Stop at the The Midnight Walk Endings?
The Midnight Walk Ending: Burn

If you choose this, Potboy keeps burning the star-like machinery atop the Moon Mountain. The fiery ball shines brighter and brighter before the screen goes white (likely meaning the end of the protagonist, Housy, and Potboy were present there). We see glimpses of characters we have met during the story of The Midnight Walk.
We also get a look at some of the monsters we faced. They share a look of terror at the bright sun-like object in the sky, clearly fearing the light. This seemed a hopeful ending that players can take as a good conclusion. This ending gives the Burn Out achievement.
The Midnight Walk Ending: Stop

If you go for this ending, Potboy will stop, and the machinery will not burn out. Instead of the previous ending’s sun-like object coming up in the sky, we see a moon-like object come up. We do see familiar characters and foes like the Burn ending, but this time, the sense of terror is absent in the latter.
The final frame shows the protagonist, Housy, and Potboy walking along a path. Choosing this The Midnight Walk ending will net you the Fade Away achievement. Contrasting the Burn ending, Stop has a sense of morbidity to it, thus perhaps being the bad ending.
Which Ending To Choose
Given there’s a sense of ambiguity in both endings, you can choose the one that best suits the way you view The Midnight Walk’s narrative. I do suggest the Burn ending if only for the slight tinge of hope it contains.
