As a police officer in The Precinct, it’s your job to put a stop to all crimes that you come across on your patrols. While some of them are pretty uneventful and you might even arrest suspects without incident, others might be much more unpredictable. Like in real life, you have a wide range of resources available to you when things do go south. You can call in these support units to help you apprehend or take down criminals.

However, understanding how this mechanic works is essential. In this guide, we’ll explore how you can call for support in The Precinct.

To call in support, simply press and hold the R1 or RB buttons on the controller, select Support Options, and choose the kind of support you want. However, you can’t just call in support as many times as you want.

In the game, you’ll need to earn Support Tokens before you can call for assistance. How frequently you earn these tokens will depend on your performance while chasing down suspects on foot and in your vehicle. The following are the best ways in which you can earn Support Tokens easily:

  • While pursuing suspects, whether on foot or in your vehicle, make sure you are close to them at all times. This will help fill up the “Good Pursuit” bars on the screen.
  • Neutralize a perpetrator in a fistfight or during a shootout to earn more Support Tokens.

The exact number of tokens necessary to call in the support will depend on the type of support you want.

There are six types of support that you can use while on patrols in the game. These are:

  1. Officer Backup: You can spend 1x Support Token to call for Officer Backup while chasing a suspect down. The backup officers will pursue the suspect and apprehend them on your behalf.
  2. Riot Van: The Riot Van costs 3x Support Tokens and is greatly useful for ramming a suspect’s vehicle off the road during a car chase. You will first need to unlock this support type from the Policing skill tree before you can call for it.
  3. Roadblocks: Spend 3x Support Tokens to call for a roadblock when the suspect is driving away from you. The roadblocks are mostly effective at stopping them, but some may ram through them to continue. You will need to unlock this support type from the Policing skill tree.
  4. Spike Strips: For 2x Support Tokens, you can call for a Spike Strip trap to be laid on the road where the suspect is driving. However, only use this on long strips of road, such as highways, where there is less risk of the suspect taking an alternate route.
  5. Police Cruiser: Costing 2x Support Tokens, Police Cruisers are a cheaper alternative to ram a suspect’s car off the road when compared to Riot Vans. However, once rammed off the road, the suspect may try more desperately to escape arrest.
  6. Helicopter: This support type costs 2x Support Tokens. With it, you can easily keep up with speeding vehicles. The Helicopter will shine a light on the perp’s car, and its position will be revealed on your minimap.
