How To Farm Pine Tar in Stardew Valley
To get Pine Tar, you must extract tree sap from Pine Trees using Tappers or Heavy Tappers. Tappers are tools that you can craft by combining 40 wood and 2 copper bars. You unlock the recipe for Tappers after reaching level 4 in Foraging. Pine trees are found naturally growing around the Carpenter’s Shop, the Railroad, and in Cindersap Forest. You can make your own pine tree plantation on the farm. Plant multiple pine trees in rows and place tappers on them to create a steady source of Pine Tar.
Once you place a Tapper on a pine tree, it produces Pine Tar after 5 in-game days. If you use a Heavy Tapper, it reduces the time to 2 days. A bubble above the Tapper shows the status of the tree sap extraction. Walk up to a Tapper on a pine tree and interact with it to harvest the extracted Pine Tar. Pine Tar is also produced as a rare byproduct while processing Hardwood in a Wood Chipper.
How To Use Pine Tar in Stardew Valley
Players can sell Pine Tar for a tidy sum, craft items with it, and complete Woodskip’s quest to upgrade the Fish Pond’s capacity from 5 to 7. Players can also use Pine Tar in the Sewing Machine to create a Floppy Beanie and in the dye pots to produce orange dye. When players place a dyeable cloth item in the feed slot of the Sewing Machine, they can insert Pine Tar in the spool slot to apply brown dye to the item.
