Elden Ring Nightreign might be a completely different take on the traditional souls-like experience, but it does feature some key elements synonymous with the genre. And much like any good souls-like RPG, the real endgame of Nightreign is “fashion.” Although you cannot create a custom character in Nightreign, you can still customize the one available to you via different outfits (cosmetics). And the best part, all of these outfits can be unlocked simply by playing through the game and progressing through the main storyline. However, as is the case with any FromSoftware souls-like, unlocking and equipping the cosmetics for the Nightfarers isn’t a straightforward process.

Here’s everything you need to know about the character outfits in Elden Ring Nightreign and how to unlock as well as equip them.

Unlocking new outfits for the Nightfarers is actually quite easy, but something the game doesn’t explain to you right from the get-go. You can essentially use Muerk, the currency in Nightreign, to purchase new outfits for your chosen Nightfarer. Murk is acquired by going through Expeditions. Even if you don’t survive the Expedition, the game will reward you with Murk, based on bosses killed, days spent, etc. Furthermore, completing the Nightfarer Remembrance quests is a great way to acquire additional Murk. On average, completing an Expedition by killing a Nightlord grants you roughly 2500 Murk. You can get more by completing Remembrances and World Events.

Once you have enough Murk, you can purchase new cosmetics for the Nightfarers at the Dresser. However, before you can do so, you need to unlock the Dresser itself, which can take a while. Essentially, you need to defeat at least 2 Nightlords before you can unlock the Dresser. After defeating 2 Nightlords, talk to the Keeper at the Roundtable Hold to unlock the Dresser. You can find the Dresser on the eastern side of the Roundtable Hold. It’s essentially the mirror that you could use to customize the Tarnished in the base Elden Ring.

How To Equip New Outfits (Cosmetics) for the Nightfarers

After you unlock the Dresser, you will have access to the Dawn and Darkness variants of the Nightfares. The Dawn outfits costs 14000 Murk, whereas the Darkness outfits cost 35000 Murk. And given you usually get 2500-3000 Murk per run, it’s going to take quite a lot of time before you can unlock all the outfits for every Nightfarer. However, if you defeat the final boss of the game, the cost of the Nightfarer garbs will be reduced by half. As such, we recommend saving your Murk until you’ve defeated the final boss at least once. After you’ve purchased an outfit, you can equip it at the Dresser itself. Simply select the Nightfarer and the outfit you want for them at the Dresser.

Once you see the equipped mark on the outfit, you will know it’s equipped on the Nightfarer. You can also change outfits for multiple Nightfarers at once. However, make sure to not spend your Murk on cosmetics until you’ve defeated the final boss and purchased the static Relics from the Small Jar Bazaar.
