Broken Strings is one of the side quests that you might stumble into when exploring the map. In this Broken Strings walkthrough for Tainted Grail The Fall of Avalon, we’ll explore how the quest starts, what you need to do in it, and the rewards you can get out of it.
How To Start the Quest
For the Broken Strings quest, you’ll need to head to the Harpist’s Tomb, which is a stone’s throw away from the Drowned Village. Inside, you will find two paths. When you first approach them, it appears as if only one path is open and the other blocked. But both of the paths have timed gates. You will need to enter and explore both the paths to complete this quest. Here is when you will find the doors of each path stay open.
- Blue path: The door stays open between 10 pm and 4 am.
- Yellow path: The door stays open between 4 am and 10 pm.
You can start with either of these, as there isn’t a right order to do it.

Broken Strings Walkthrough for Tainted Grail The Fall of Avalon
We’ve broken down the walkthrough into the yellow and blue paths for your convenience. Here’s how you can proceed through each path.
Yellow Path
As stated previously, this path remains open during the daytime, starting from 4 am, and remains open till ten at night. When you proceed inside this path, you’ll meet a ghostly apparition named Aine. Talk to her to learn of her story and about her sister. After you are done talking to her, you will have to face off against two powerful enemies, Greed and Pride. After slaying both of these foes, speak with Aine’s apparition once more.
Before heading out the way you came in, make sure you grab the Origin Potion, Greater Health Potions, and a Starborn Egg from a chest inside the yellow path. This last item is especially valuable, as the weapon relic increases your weapon’s damage by 10%. Once you head outside, rest at a bonfire to advance time to after 10 pm.
Blue Path
Return to the tomb after 10 pm to access the blue path next. Inside, you’ll find another ghostly apparition, Aideen. She is Aine’s sister. Speak to her to learn of her side of the story. She expresses guilt but also recounts a tale of betrayal. After the conversation ends, another fight will start. This time, the two powerful enemies are named Wrath and Envy. Slay them both and talk to Aideen once again to receive the remains of both the sisters.
Burying the Remains
The final task will be to exit the tomb and head northeast. There, you’ll find a weird tree that’s near the Drowned Village. At the spot, you’ll run into Sir Vaelin, who’ll attack you on sight. Kill him and finally lay the remains of both sisters to rest underneath the tree. This will complete the quest and reward you with 2300 XP.
