Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has many great side missions, but that does not mean that the main story lacks in any capacity. The title’s campaign plays a crucial role in establishing the world and characters around the player. Light the Dragonfire is one of the quests within the main storyline that takes place during the latter stages of the game. During it, as the player, you must help Emperor Martin Septim stop the enemies coming from the Oblivion Gates.

How To Complete Light the Dragonfires Quest in Oblivion Remastered

Light the Dragonfires quest in Oblivion Remastered takes place right after you give the Amulet of Kings to Martin Septim, at the end of the Paradise mission. After that, the emperor will ask you to accompany him to the Imperial City. Once there, you will meet Chancellor Ocato. However, lighting the Dragonfires so Martin can close the Oblivion Gates will be your primary goal.

Now, after reaching the Imperial City, follow Martin Septim to the Palace. It is situated right in the middle of the entire city. You can go there by foot or horseback if you want to enjoy the journey. Or you can simply use fast travel. To be more precise, after reaching the Imperial City, go to the Elder Council Chambers in the White-Gold Tower. There you will meet Councilor Ocato. He will brief you and Martin on what needs to be done.

However, your conversation with the emperor and Ocato will be interrupted by an Imperial Watch guard. He will break the news that the Imperial City is under attack. After that, Oblivion Gates will appear all around the city, and some Daedra will enter the chamber and try to kill Emperor Martin Septim. Then, Martin will ask you to lead him to the Temple District. But you will have to fight many enemies along the way.

In this quest, Martin Septim’s survival is the most crucial part. So, we highly recommend that you stick close to him and fight whoever he is fighting. If the Emperor dies, the game will end. After reaching the Temple District, you will witness many Daedra coming out of an Oblivion Gate there. Keep them at bay and try your best to reach the southwest gate entrance of the temple.

Witness the Glorious Battle

As you make your way through the various enemies, you will notice that Mehrunes Dagon himself has appeared. Then, Martin will tell you that he has a plan in mind. But unfortunately, the entrance to the temple will be quite near Dagon. Also, he will be immune to your attacks. So, your best bet would be to ignore him and run to the temple directly.

After you and Martin enter the temple. You will have your last conversation with him, and then the Emperor will fight the Daedric Prince in a glorious cutscene. This is the end of the quest, so make sure that you witness this spectacle.
