The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is a massive RPG with an expansive world. In Cyrodiil, there are many factions you can join and related quests you can do. While some of them are your typical fetch quests, there are a few that stand out as different. A Brush with Death is one of them.
You will begin this journey in Cheydinhal and venture into another fictional world within the game. Now, this mission might be simple for many. However, that does not mean that you cannot use some help. So, with that in mind, in this guide, we will give you a complete walkthrough of the ‘A Brush with Death’ quest in Oblivion Remastered.
How To Complete a Brush With Death Quest in Oblivion Remastered
To start the “A Brush with Death” quest in Oblivion Remastered, you will first have to go to Cheydinhal. Once you are there, go to Rythe Lythandas’s house. It will be in the southern part of the city. Talk to Trivela Lythandas after entering the house. She will tell you that Rythe, her husband, is missing, and she hasn’t heard from him in two days. In addition to that, Trivela will also tell you that Rythe often spends his time inside his art studio. However, she did not find him there this time.
After the conversation, she will give you the key to the studio door. Use it to enter Rythe’s studio by unlocking the door to your right. Inside the room, you will notice a painting of the Painted World. If you approach and interact with it, you will be sucked into the world of the painting.
Meet Rythe Lythandas
There, you will find Rythe Lythandas. He will tell you how he got trapped inside the painting. Furthermore, he will reveal that a thief is also present in the painted world, and he used the painter’s magical Brush of Truepaint to create Troll Guardians to protect himself.
Rythe will then give you six Turpentine. By applying it to your weapon, you will be able to increase the damage. Once you have done that, follow the path in front of you, and it will lead you straight to the first Troll. Defeat the enemy and loot its body. However, remember that this action will have both positive and negative effects. Then, keep following the road while enjoying the beautiful artistry of Rythe. Eventually, you will stumble across the second troll, and after that, the third.
Get Back to the Real World
After beating both of them, keep walking until you get out of the forest and enter a rocky terrain. There, you will confront the final painted troll. Once you have defeated the last enemy, take the Brush of Truepaint from the Bosmer Thief. He will be nearby. Then, simply follow the quest marker and report back to Rythe Lythandas. The painter will open a portal with the brush that will lead you two out of the painted world.
Once you are back in Rythe’s house, talk to him and get the Apron of Adroitness as a reward.
