The weapon we recommend going for is the Poisoned Knight’s Greatsword. This two-handed weapon comes with a built-in trait that increases the chance of critical hits by 5 percent. Pair the weapon up with the Starborn Egg weapon relics. This relic increases weapon damage by 10 percent. Slot in the Starborn Egg in both slots, and you’ll see a whopping 20 percent increase in the weapon’s already impressive base damage. We also recommend carrying a backup ranged bow for quests where you need to hunt.

Best Armor, Totem, and Rings

For the armor set, we recommend using the following:

  • Helmet: Volker Berserker’s Helmet. You’ll find this helmet in the Horns of the South, near the All-Mother’s Temple. Pair this helmet with the Volker’s Berserker’s Totem. This totem increases critical chance by 20 percent, stacking well with the weapon you use.

  • Gloves: Knight’s Gauntlet. You’ll get these gloves as a drop from enemies. These gauntlets increase max stamina by +7, giving you much-needed extra stamina to swing the two-handed weapon.

  • Chest: Volker Berserker’s Armor. You’ll find this armor alongside the helmet. With 15 armor, this piece has one of the best stats in the game. Pair this piece with the Colm’s Finger Necklace Totem, which increases crit chance by 5 percent.

  • Rings: The first ring is the Oldsteel Ring, which increases max health and stamina by 3 percent. For the second, we recommend the Perfect Ring For A Warrior, which increases physical damage by 5 percent.

  • Pants: Knight’s Greaves. These greaves increase your max stamina by +7. You’ll get these as a drop from the knights in the Abandoned Stronghold.

  • Boots: Knight’s Armor Boots. These boots increase max stamina by +5.

  • Relics: For armor relics, the first we recommend is Unfading Ember. This relic ignites enemies if they hit you. The second is the Eternal Guardian Seal. This relic increases your max health by +3.

Best Attributes

The main stats that you need to invest in the most are Strength, Endurance, and Perception. High Strength is essential if you wish to wield the Poisoned Knight’s Greatsword. Furthermore, for each point you invest, the stat scales your stamina by +3, alongside a 1 percent boost to melee damage. Try to aim for 15 or so Strength to make the most of your build.

Investing in Endurance will increase your max health, encumbrance limit, and stamina regeneration. The stamina regeneration, especially, is a must if you wish to wield the heavy weapon without any restrictions.

Lastly, we recommend investing in Perception. Perception determines your critical damage and critical chance. When paired with the other Relics and Totems we’re using, high Perception will see you one-shotting enemies more often than not.

Skills You Should Use

As far as the skills are concerned, we recommend getting the following:

  • Godly Physique (Strength/General): Increase melee damage by 25 percent.
  • Executioner (Strength/General): Staggered enemies take 60 percent more damage.
  • Weapons of Great Heft (Strength/General): Increase physical damage by 2 percent for each point of the weapon’s weight.
  • Brutish Fighter (Strength/Two-Handed): Attacks with two-handed weapons are stronger by 20 percent.
  • Enduring Strikes (Strength/Two-Handed): Two-handed attacks have 4 percent Lifesteal.
  • Increased Vitality (Endurance/General): Increases max health by 10 percent.
  • Carnage (Endurance/General): Each enemy killed increases damage by 5 percent, up to 50.
  • Agility (Dexterity/General): Dash costs 60 percent less stamina.
  • Extra Lucky (Perception/General): Increases critical chance by 6 percent.
