Remembrances are easily one of the most important aspects of Elden Ring Nightreign’s moment-to-moment gameplay. While they don’t directly affect gameplay in Nightreign, they do offer an incentive to go out on Expeditions and defeat Nightlords. The Remembrances are essentially the game’s sole storytelling device and are needed to uncover each Nightfarer’s history. However, the game doesn’t really do a good job of explaining the Remembrance mechanic and its underlying systems. Thankfully, completing and even tracking the Remembrances is quite easy, once you figure out how the mechanic works in Elden Ring Nightreign.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Remembrances in Elden Ring Nightreign and how to track its progress.

What Are Remembrances in Elden Ring Nightreign?

Remembrances are essentially side quests that are tied to each Nightfarer. As you complete Expeditions using a Nightfarer, you will obtain Memory Shards that you can then take back to the Roundtable Hold. Using these Memory Shards, you can initiate a Remebrance quest for the character you were using. The Remembrance quests usually have multiple volumes and sub-chapters. Each of these volumes requires you to talk to specific NPCs across the Roundtable Hold to piece together the past of said Nightfarer. Furthermore, at the end of a volume, you will be tasked with a personal quest, which you can complete when you head out to Limgrave.

These personal quests usually involve defeating a specific boss on the map, or in certain cases, even a specific Nightlord. For instance, in the Guardian’s case, you only need to defeat a Guardian Golem on the edge of Limveld. However, for Ironeye, you need to defeat the Darkdrift Knight to complete his Remembrance quest. Additionally, there are also optional endings tied to certain Nightfarer Remembrances. During our time with the game, we were able to find two secret endings for Duchess and Ironeye. These endings are only available if you’ve completed Nightafer’s Remembrance before defeating the final boss.

Thankfully, you can attempt the final Expedition as many times as you want, and complete the Remembrances even after the credits have rolled.

Tracking the Remembrances is incredibly easy. You just need to use the Journal to keep a record of the steps of a Nightfarer’s Remembrance quest. The Journal can be accessed via the room to the west of the Roundtable Hold. You can also fast travel to the Journal by pressing the view button on your controller. Do note that Remembrances only unlock after you’ve defeated at least two Nightlords and have acquired a memory shard. Essentially, after you defeat Gladius, you need to defeat another Nightlord to obtain a memory shard. And after that, you can easily complete Remembrance quests and track them using the Journal.
