Elden Ring Nightreign is primarily a multiplayer roguelike title. However, you can play the game solo instead of being in a full party. Doing so had many disadvantages due to the solo expeditions being poorly balanced on release. Fortunately, in the version 1.01.1 update, solo expeditions got many positive reworks. You can now revive yourself once in the boss area and gain 40 to 50 percent more runes from enemies. These changes make solo expeditions far more comfortable than before.

Sadly, these changes alone won’t win you your expedition. To help you out, here’s a list of five tips and tricks that you should know during your solo expeditions in Elden Ring Nightreign.

5 Best Tips & Tricks for Solo Expeditions in Elden Ring Nightreign

1. Play the Right Character

Among all the playable characters, not everyone is suited for solo runs. Due to how character abilities and passives work, a few nightfarers highly excel in solo expeditions. Currently, Wylder is the best character that you can take on to defeat the Nightlords. His skill provides high mobility, an ultimate that stuns any enemy, and his passive gives you a free revive. All these abilities highly define how your expedition goes.

Some other great characters that are suited for solo expeditions are Executor, Ironeye, and Raider.

2. Defeat Smaller Enemies

Always keep killing enemies, especially on Night 1. You need Runes to level up, and killing smaller enemies slowly adds up to a considerable amount. At the end of the first night, you should be somewhere around Level 6-8. Doing so makes the boss fight much easier.

Moreover, you can interact with golden fireflies to boost your Rune acquisition rate. One such rune is a firefly spawn right outside the boss arena on Day 1. Make sure to interact with the firefly before killing the boss.

3. Do Not Waste Time

When you drop onto the map, there are dozens of structures to explore around Limveld. Make sure to visit locations you can complete. Avoid large dungeons or structures whose layout you do not know by heart. Some structures, like the middle castle, are designed to be explored by a full team.

Similarly, do not challenge bosses you cannot defeat quickly enough. Ignore field bosses on Night 1; you are far too weak to deal significant damage to them. Night 2 is the best time to start defeating some bosses. However, do not challenge anything you are not confident you can defeat. All you will do is waste precious time.

4. Always Use Consumables

Consumables are run-changing items. You have four consumable/item slots, and most consumables can be stacked to a certain amount. As a solo player, you are going to have an abundance of consumables that you can find all over the map. Therefore, spam items as much as you can.

Among all the consumables, there is one that you must obtain in every expedition. The item is called Wending Grace, and it gives you a free revive. When you are playing alone, a free revive is the most valuable thing that you can get.

There are two Wending Graces that you obtain every run, one from any merchant on the map and the other from the merchant before the Nightlord. Each costs 10000 Runes and heals you completely when used. When combined with Wylder and the 1.01.1 rework, you can have a total of four revives at a time on you.

5. Get Useful Passives

Most items, weapons, and shields have passive effects. These effects can be very random, but all of them provide something positive for your character. One thing the game does not explain is that the passive effect on weapons works even when you are not holding them. Just having them in your inventory is enough for the passive to be active.

You can also get useful passives from defeating major bosses on the map. The best ones are anything that increases your survivability. It can come from increased i-frames, health regen, and damage reduction. Lastly, defeat glowing scarabs around the map to obtain trinkets. You can hear a humming sound whenever one is near you. This concludes the list of five best tips and tricks for solo expeditions in Elden Ring Nightreign.
