The Nameless King returns in Elden Ring Nightreign as a formidable Night Boss with powerful lightning attacks and two phases.

One of the most iconic bosses created by FromSoftware, the Nameless King, makes a return in Elden Ring Nightreign as a Night Boss. Initially featured as an optional boss in Dark Souls 3, the Nameless King is significantly nerfed in Nightreign. However, the boss still presents a considerable challenge, even to a team of three.
Overview of the Nameless King
The Nameless King appears as a Night 2 Boss during the Darkdrift Knight and Night Aspect expeditions. He has two phases: Riding a storm drake during the first phase and using his swordspear’s lightning attacks during the second. Defeating the Nameless King will unlock the final boss of the expedition, the Nightlord. Your party should have reached at least level 7 by the time you face the Nameless King.
Weaknesses of the Nameless King
The Nameless King deals heavy lightning damage, especially during his second phase. Equipping lightning resistance can significantly reduce the difficulty of the fight. During the first phase, focus on attacking the storm drake’s head to quickly deplete its health.
Using fire and holy damage is effective against the Nameless King, while using lightning damage is futile. During the second phase, watch the boss closely, looking out for special attacks that require precise dodging. His attacks are telegraphed and delayed, so avoid panic rolling.
Tips To Easily Defeat the Nameless King

- When the storm drake begins spewing flames, it will do so in a wide arc. This is an excellent time to attack its head. Either sprint to it or roll diagonally through the flames.
- Melee fighters should stay close to the drake’s head as much as possible, maximizing damage while avoiding some attacks.
- Ranged Nightfarers can continuously attack the drake’s head, staying in its blind spot to fire away safely.
Phase Two
- When the Nameless King starts to charge up an attack and raises his spear high, lightning will strike the players’ location with a half-second delay. Roll precisely to avoid the attack and use his charge-up time to land free hits.
- The boss will raise his foot and slam it down, causing lightning to ripple across the ground around him. The AoE is quite small, so you can either back away or jump to avoid the attack.
- The Nameless King will point his swordspear at a player and thunder forward to thrust it. Roll at the first sign of the attack’s launch, counterattack once, and then prepare yourself for his next strike.
- When the swordspear is pulled back and a gust of wind surrounds it, the boss will leap a significant distance while slashing the blade. Create distance or roll at the last moment to avoid the strike.
- Raising the swordspear with both hands, the Nameless King will slam it on the ground in front after a short delay. The ground will be struck by lightning, and lightning bolts will scatter in five directions after three seconds.
- The Nameless King will jump high into the air and dive down to attack a player. Create some distance to have ample reaction time to dodge when the attack is launched.
