How To Complete As Good as Gold Side Quest in Tainted Grail The Fall of Avalon
Talk to Elaine To Start the Quest
To initiate the As Good as Gold side quest, you need to talk with Lady Elaine in the Village in Horns of the South. However, you must complete ‘The Last Voyage’ side quest beforehand to access the ‘As Good as Gold’ quest. You can find Elaine sitting alone in a corner inside Ron’s Tavern. Upon interacting with her, she will ask you to retrieve her valuable necklace, gifted to her by Lady Kincaid. Since her necklace chain is broken, she has given it to the Keeper’s Blacksmith Osbryht for repair.
Repairing the Necklace
Head to the fortress at the Horns of the South and talk to Osbryht. You can find him near the entrance. When you ask about Lady Elaine’s necklace, he will explain that he lacks the tools and the skills to fix such a delicate item. He suggests finding a master goldsmith to repair it. Here comes the tricky part: the game doesn’t provide any tracker for finding the master goldsmith. However, Osbryht hints that you should talk with the new faces at the Village.
Head to the Village, at the far western side of the map. You will find a refugee camp near Ron’s Tavern. Climb the wooden stairs and reach the camp. There you will find a man named Ellis. Upon speaking with him, you will learn that he is a talented goldsmith who loves working with jewels. Give him Lady Elaine’s necklace, and he will repair it, making it as good as new. Moreover, he won’t charge a single penny for his fine work.
Finding a Job for Ellis
After fixing the necklace, return to Elaine at Ron’s Tavern. Hand over her repaired necklace. Tell her that Ellis, a refugee, fixed it for free. Touched by his generosity and skill, Elaine writes a recommendation letter to Quartermaster Fearghas regarding his job. Take the letter to Fearghas at the fortress. After reading Lady Elaine’s letter, he agrees to make arrangements for Ellis’s job as an apprentice under Osbryht.
Now return to Ellis and deliver the good news about his job offer. He gratefully accepts the offer. This completes the quest and also unlocks Ellis’s accessory shop, where you can purchase various rings and amulets.
