Combat is an essential part of Elden Ring Nightreign’s gameplay loop. The game features many unique mechanics that make every encounter with an enemy different and interesting. Normally, people know about systems like parry, dodge, and striking. But Nightreign has another mechanic that not many players are familiar with. It is the Poise system. The Poise in Elden Ring Nightreign refers to the invisible stat connected to your stagger meter.

You cannot see it on screen or in the UI. However, it determines how and when your Nightfarer gets staggered or knocked down. In this guide, we will give you all the details regarding the Poise in Elden Ring Nightreign.

What Is Poise in Elden Ring Nightreign?

Poise in Elden Ring Nightreign is the invisible stagger meter of your character. As you receive damage, the meter will fill up. If too many attacks hit you in a short time, the meter will max out and stagger you. Of course, you won’t be able to see or keep track of the Poise stat in Nightreign. However, you should know that, naturally, larger and stronger enemies deal more Poise damage, leading to a quick stagger. This will also stop any action your character is doing.

A longer stagger bar will keep you on your feet even if you get hit. However, the Poise stat determines the scope of your stagger meter, and both are invisible to the players. Despite this, upgrading your Poise will have a significant effect on your Nightfarer, which you will notice during combat.

Now, since the game activates Poise only when you get hit, if you are really good at dodging or prefer ranged combat and can avoid incoming hits, then you don’t have to concern yourself with the stagger bar. However, Nightfarers who focus on close-range melee combat, such as the Guardian, Wylder, Raider, etc, should focus on upgrading their Poise stat.

After that, a single hit, even from bosses, won’t stagger you because you’ll be strong enough. However, boss combos will still fill up your stagger meter.
