One particular secret within the Free Roam section of the game has garnered quite a bit of interest among players, and that’s the UFO flying around. This guide is all about how you can locate the UFO in Mario Kart World, even though it doesn’t spawn in any particular spot. Also, we’ll dive into the necessary actions once you locate it.
How To Locate the UFO in Mario Kart World
You will find the UFO during Free Roam. However, we can’t point you to a specific location where you’re guaranteed to find it. Instead, you will need to drive around and hope you see it flying in the sky. In our time with the game, we’ve always encountered it while traversing the main roads of the map. So, you don’t need to visit any remote locations to increase your chances of spotting it.
Additionally, you might spot it high in the sky when it first comes into the picture. Wait for a while for the spaceship to slowly descend a bit and then shine its beam right down below on the road. This light beam is crucial for you to snatch the control of the UFO temporarily.

How To Ride the UFO in Mario Kart World?
As soon as the light beam shines on the road ahead, drive into the light. Doing so will cause you to be pulled into the spaceship and give you temporary control over it. You can then fly the UFO around and get a bird’s eye view of the world. Press the A button to speed up the UFO, and press B to stop it. You can use the R button to suck up any of the items or cars that you see on the roads below. This is a great way to reach the location of the Peach Coins, which are often tricky to get to on your kart.
However, remember that there’s an invisible counter that’s ticking when you’re riding the UFO. You will get only around 30 seconds of controlling the spaceship before your kart will be dropped back to the road. For now, there doesn’t seem to be any concrete way to stay up there longer than this default timer.
