In Act 1 of The Alters, you need to find a vantage point as part of the main story in order to survey the lava on the planet.
Act 1 of The Alters sees Jan and crew slowly analyzing their situation and researching the planet to find a way out. As you progress through the story in the shoes of Jan, you learn that the path ahead is running hot with lava. If the ship is to navigate through this dangerous area, you need to study it first. In order to do so, you need to head to a vantage point.
Finding the vantage point is one of the main story objectives in The Alters. Since The Alters runs on a timer, completing this quest is something you must do with the utmost urgency. The issue is, however, that the game gives you no guidance on where the vantage point is. The alien planet is vast, and finding the vantage point on this huge map is no better than finding a needle in a haystack.

Where Is the Vantage Point in The Alters?

You’ll start off your day by exiting the base in The Alters. Once you exit the base, open your map. The vantage point is on the southernmost tip of the map. There are two tips down south. The tip you’re looking for is the one to the right. It is directly south of the Organics deposit near your base. It is also directly east of the Rapidium deposit.
Start moving south from your base while sticking to the right side of the map. Pass through the area with the Organics deposit and keep going south to the edge of the map. A cutscene will then play out where Jan will survey the lava and think over the plan.
Once the cutscene is done, you simply need to head back out the way you came and back to base. Report back to Jan Technician and inform him of the lava to complete the objective and proceed with the story.
