Much like the base game, elemental affinities play a major role in Lies of P’s Overture DLC—more so than you might initially presume. Similar to other souls-like games, Lies of P offers a vast array of options to the player when it comes to builds. However, unlike other games in the genre, Lies of P is primarily focused on close-quarters melee combat.

While the setting of Lies of P Overture does feature magical elements, those are not offered to the player to work into their builds. Instead, it is the elemental affinities that serve as the alternative to magic or sorceries.

However, understanding the elemental affinities can be a bit difficult, especially due to how they synergize with different enemy types in the game. Here’s everything you need to know about elemental affinities in Lies of P Overture.

Elemental affinities in Lies of P are quite straightforward and work essentially the same way you would expect in an action RPG. All elemental debuffs apply damage over time, which comes in incredibly handy against some of the endgame bosses. In addition, some elemental affinities also apply a passive effect on enemies, impairing their movement or defense.

For instance, if you apply Shock to an enemy, it drastically reduces their stamina recovery speed. On the flip side, if you apply Fire or Overheat to an enemy, it helps deal bonus damage to them over time.

Different elements have different use cases in Lies of P Overture. In fact, if you want an easier time with the bosses in the DLC, we highly recommend using an Advance build, which takes full advantage of the elemental debuffs. Elemental affinities are essentially the means to secure an easy victory over all bosses in Lies of P, including the incredibly challenging ones such as Laxasia, Markiona, and even Arlecchino.

Although physical damage works quite well in most instances, elemental damage is still a better option in Lies of P. There are a few reasons for that. While most elemental weapons do not dish out huge physical damage numbers, they make up for their low DPS with incredibly high passive damage.

Advance or Technique builds can even use Motivity weapons with elemental Grindstones to get the best of both worlds: good damage and elemental debuffs. And considering the massive health bars some of the endgame bosses come with, elemental damage is the best option against them.

Here’s a look at all the bosses in the DLC, and the elemental weaknesses they have:

  • Tyrannical Predator: Fire (Overheat)
  • Markiona, Puppeteer of Death: Decay/Shock
  • Veronique, Leader of the Sweepers: Decay
  • Two-Faced Overseer: Fire (Overheat)
  • Premetamorphic Green Hunter: Fire (Overheat)
  • Anguished Guardian of the Ruins: Fire (Overheat)
  • Lumacchio, Leader of the Bastards: Fire (Overheat)
  • Arlecchino, the Blood Artist: Shock
