The Old Man boss is undoubtedly one of the creepiest boss fights you will face in Deltarune. Here is how to survive this encounter.
Deltarune has some encounters where you simply cannot win on your own, and your objective is to survive for a certain amount of time. The hollow armor you encounter in Chapter 4, which Susie believes to be the “Old Man,” will be an easy but haunting encounter.

How To Start the Old Man Boss in Deltarune
This boss is part of the main story, so you cannot miss it. Once you head to the Old Man’s study and cross the darkness maze that lies beyond it, you will encounter this fight.
Susie will ask if you can hear where the sounds are coming from. Answering positively will remove the visual cues from this fight, so if you want to make it easier, select the opposite.

How To Defeat the Old Man in Deltarune
Unfortunately, you cannot defeat this boss yourself. You merely have to survive long enough for Ralsei to show up and aid you. Moreover, you cannot attack this boss, as Susie will stop you from doing so. Therefore, you should stay on the defensive and try your best to survive.
The boss will attack you from three directions (up, left, and right). Be prepared to face the appropriate direction and block accordingly. After repeating this a few times, you will be able to move your SOUL for a brief moment. The Old Man will make your SOUL red, and you will have to dodge his attack instead of blocking. Be prepared for this transition.
Once this happens, he will keep attacking you from the upper side of the screen. Move your SOUL to the left or right side to dodge these attacks. You will be given proper indications of where the attacks will land. After a few cycles, the fight will end automatically with Ralsei’s appearance.
