Grinding Gear Games has added a new mechanic named Runegrafting in Path of Exile with the new Secret of Atlas expansion.

Path of Exile brought many new changes with its Secret of Atlas expansion. With this new update, Grinding Gear Games has replaced the previous league’s Runesmithing with Runegrafting. This new mechanic will allow you to access the passive tree and replace any passives with new ones.
So, if you are jumping back into this action RPG after a while because of the Secret of Atlas expansion and are a bit confused about how the Runegrafting works in Path of Exile, here’s a comprehensive guide.
Runegrafting in Path of Exiles: Secret of Atlas, Explained

Players can now change their passive skill tree nodes by using Runegrafting. However, now it affects the mastery nodes instead of the Attributes. Since the Mastery Passives give you quite strong buffs, any grafts you get will help you significantly. Furthermore, the developers have added a diverse group of drafts with the Secret of Atlas update. Of course, you might find some of them ordinary or common, but you will also find others that can modify your build or give you different buffs.
You will find every single graft in the Path of Exile 3.26 patch notes. But in this article, we have only highlighted the ones the developers revealed during the Secret of Atlas announcements. You can check them out below.
- Runegraft of Time: 20% chance of skills not getting a cooldown on use.
- Runegraft of the Bound: 20% increased bonuses from equipped gloves. 20% reduced bonuses from equipped boots.
- Runegraft of the River: 20% chance of reaching low life to recover to full life.
- Runegraft of the Fortress: 10% reduced attributes, 40% increased global defenses.
- Runegraft of Bellows: 100% increased warcry speed if you have not warcried recently.
- Runegraft of the Jeweller: 10% increased damage for each unlinked socket in the equipped two-handed weapon.
Despite being quite strong, Runegrafts still hold some limitations to prevent the players from stacking them up. More specifically, while you can craft multiple of these in the Passive Skill Tree, every Runegraft will be limited to one.
How To Obtain Runegrafts in Path of Exile: Secret of Atlas

Since Runegrafts are a part of the Settlers of Kalguur’s shipping mechanic in Path of Exile, you will have to ship out ores and crops to Kalguur Imports to obtain them. Similar to the Karui Tattoos, you will get the Runegrafts as a reward for sending resources to Kalguur Imports.
However, these rewards you get in return will be randomized, so there’s no guarantee that you will get the one you want. In that scenario, you can trade the unwanted Runegrafts to other players and keep repeating the process until you get the one you desire.
