In this guide, we explore how you can find Unusually Colored Rock in The Alters, which are crucial in fulfilling an alter request.
In The Alters, you will create several alternate versions of the main character, Jan Dolski. Each of these alters will have separate specializations, making almost all of them highly useful when trying to survive on an inhospitable planet. One of these versions is Jan Miner. Like all the other alters in the game, you will need to establish a good rapport with him and keep him happy.
One of the key aspects of making him happy is fulfilling a special request that he makes in Act 3. This begins The Wood and the Sculptor optional task, where you will need to retrieve an Unusually Colored Rock for Jan Miner. How To Find the Unusually Colored Rock in The Alters
The first part of The Wood and the Sculptor quest involves crafting a chisel using the Workshop module. This shouldn’t be too difficult at this point in the game, as it requires you to spend only 6 hours of in-game time and 5x metal to complete. Next comes venturing outside in search of the Unusually Colored Rock. This also should not be too tricky to find, especially in Act 3. Many places on the map will spawn these items, although you’ll need only one to complete Jan Miner’s request.
You should look for tree stump-like rock formations that hide pink crystal rocks inside. The closest one should be just a short distance straight from your base entrance. However, many of the rock locations also have moving anomalies around, so be wary of these and don’t let them hit you.

How To Complete The Wood and the Sculptor Quest
Once you have both the chisel and the Unusually Colored Rock in The Alters, you can return to Jan Miner. He will be extremely pleased and thank you for your help, bringing The Wood and the Sculptor quest to a close.
