Samsung has started rolling out its Android 16-based One UI 8 beta update. The Galaxy S25 series is leading the pack of eligible devices and will be among the first to receive the update. While the update brings several under-the-hood improvements, it doesn’t change how the interface looks or how you interact with it. You’ll find smarter features like Now Bar and Now Brief, which deliver context-aware updates and reminders without needing to open apps. Multitasking receives notable updates, apps run more smoothly in split-screen, and DeX now supports WQHD resolutions and rotated windows, making it more practical for desk setups.

Another useful addition is Auracast audio sharing, enabling audio streaming to multiple Galaxy Buds or hearing devices via a QR link. It is a small update, but it might come in handy for shared listening situations and a few other use cases.

One UI 8 introduces more visible mic and camera access warnings, deeper Knox Vault protection, and more on-device AI processing. Additionally, minor updates to Reminder, Quick Share, and dynamic wallpapers help make the software feel cleaner and more refined.

Timeline for the Samsung Android 16 Update

Here’s the rollout schedule users can expect:

  • May–June 2025 (Beta phase): One UI 8 beta launched on S25 devices in regions such as the US, UK, Germany, South Korea, India, and Poland.
  • July–August 2025 (Stable release): Foldables (Z Fold 7, Flip 7) get stable builds first, followed by the S25 and S24 series.
  • Late 2025–Early 2026: Rollout expands to mid-range A and M-series phones and tablets. Timing will vary by region.

Notably, this summer update cycle is earlier than Samsung’s previous fall pattern.
