Stellar Blade mostly focuses on hard-hitting melee combat, hacking, and slashing at a variety of enemies that you face. However, in some scenarios, you will need to rely on ranged attacks to get through or defeat an opponent. This can be tricky since Eve can carry up to 30 bullets at any time by default, which means there’s a high possibility of running out of rounds before an enemy falls.

Fortunately, it’s quite easy to refill ammo thanks to plenty of drops throughout the map. Also, there are ways to increase the maximum number of bullets Eve can carry.

Neither of these solutions will help if you exhaust your ammo reserve during a fight. There’s one way to deal with the situation in the middle of battle, and that’s to switch to a different ammo type. In this guide, we’ll explore how you can change the ammo type in Stellar Blade. We’ll also take a look at the various types of ammo available in the game.

If you need to change the type of ammo you’re currently using, simply aim down the weapon’s sights and then press and hold R on the keyboard (press and hold down on the directional pad on the controller). Doing this will bring up a wheel that lists all of the ammo types currently in your possession. In the early phases of the game, Eve will only have access to three variants: Shells, Blaster Cells, and Stingers. With the Drone Enhancement Module, you can unlock two additional ammo types: Shotgun Shells and Explosive.

Understanding Different Ammo Types in Stellar Blade

Now that you know how to change the ammo type in Stellar Blade, it’s time to understand which ammo to use in specific situations.

  • Slugs: This is the default ammo type in the game.
  • Blaster Cell: This is an ammo type that fires a continuous ray of energy. However, you’ll need to charge the shot before firing.
  • Stinger: These are missiles that you can fire at a target after locking onto it. You can upgrade the ammo to increase the number of missiles fired with each shot.
  • Explosive Shell: When fired, these shells explode on impact with enemies. Any foes standing close by might also receive AoE damage.
  • Shotgun Shell: Fires a shotgun round, which has a large spread and is more effective at close range.
