We’re well into 2025, and the Galaxy S24 FE has had time to settle in. Initially positioned as a more affordable take on the Galaxy S24, it shares much of the same design and feature set. Prices have dropped since launch, with the phone now selling at a significantly lower price than its original $649 tag.

That makes it one of the more accessible options in Samsung’s lineup. But with talk of the Galaxy S25 FE picking up, some buyers are understandably unsure. Hold on for the newer model, or take advantage of the lower price now?

Galaxy S24 FE: Still a Strong Value in 2025

If you need a phone right now, the Galaxy S24 FE isn’t a bad choice, not by a long shot. The 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED is one of the crispest displays I have seen in a phone in this budget. The display hits a peak brightness of around 1,900 nits, supports a 120Hz refresh rate, and uses Gorilla Glass on the front and back. It doesn’t sport the titanium casing like the S24 or the S24 Ultra. The S24 FE features an aluminum frame, which gives a premium feel to the phone while helping with durability.

Samsung’s Exynos 2400e chip delivers a solid experience for everyday tasks. Whether you’re scrolling on social media, streaming videos, or playing games, it handles everything smoothly. With 8GB of RAM, the S24 FE lets you hop between apps and make the most of One UI’s productivity tools without annoying hiccups.

Photography is spectacular. With a triple-camera setup: 50MP main, 12MP ultrawide, and 8MP telephoto sensor, the shots are sharp, especially in daylight. It’s not quite the S24 Ultra’s level, but it is not something you would notice.

Samsung guarantees seven years of OS and security updates for the Galaxy S24 FE, ensuring it stays current with Android versions through 2031. It also includes all of Samsung’s AI features, such as Circle to Search, Live Translate, and generative image tools. 

What the S25 FE Might Improve

That said, it’s not all perfect, and that’s where the S25 FE may shine. Multiple leaks hint at slimmer bezels and a flatter, more refined design. The new model is expected to shave off some thickness compared to the S24 FE. Making the Galaxy S25 FE slightly more comfortable to hold and use.

Coming to the hardware, there are speculations around a potential switch to the Dimensity 9400 chipset in some regions. It could help with power efficiency and thermals, something the Exynos chip sometimes struggles with under load, especially if you use a personal hotspot on your phone.

Another rumored upgrade is a 12MP front-facing camera, which should help with selfies and video calls. The current 10MP front-facing camera on the S24 FE is decent, but it’s starting to feel dated compared to what midrange competitors are offering now.

Samsung is sticking with the same 6.7-inch AMOLED panel and 4,700mAh battery. So, outside of minor design and camera tweaks, we cannot expect major changes other than a reworked chipset. 

Galaxy S25 FE Release Timeline and Price Expectations

The Galaxy S25 FE is expected to launch in the second half of 2025, around September or October, based on Samsung’s product launch schedule. However, there might be a delay as Samsung recently announced the S25 Edge series. As for pricing, it will probably stick to the $649 range at launch, with early trade-in offers and carrier deals bringing it below $600.

That means its price won’t be drastically different from the current discounted Galaxy S24 FE. If you don’t mind waiting a few months and assuming Samsung doesn’t delay the release, it may be worth holding off.
