The Everdark Sovereign Expeditions in Elden Ring Nightreign are arguably the best form of post-launch content players could’ve hoped for. It not only lets you go up against more menacing and powerful forms of base game bosses but also offers you unique rewards for persevering through them.

However, given the nature of these Expeditions, they aren’t for everyone, especially if you aren’t a fan of Nightreign’s progression loop. The Everdark Sovereign is also a great way to extend the game’s replayability, which is also well beyond just the achievements and trophies.

However, if you’ve already completed the Everdark Sovereign Expedition once, is it worth replaying through it again? Let’s find out.

Everdark Sovereign are new Expeditions that have been added to Elden Ring Nightreign with the most recent title update. These special Expeditions essentially are meant to be the game’s quintessential “endgame” mode. The Everdark Sovereign resets weekly, introducing a new Nightlord.

Furthermore, the Nightlords featured in the Everdark Sovereign are reskins of the base game bosses. However, these bosses do come with new movesets and increased stats. Titled the “Enhanced Nightlords,” these bosses are significantly more powerful compared to their regular counterparts.

In addition to that, Enhanced Nightlords come with their own unique movesets, which, more often than not, can “one-shot” an entire party. For instance, the Enhanced Gaping Jaw gains a new third phase where it summons tornadoes across the arena. Furthermore, these bosses are more resilient to damage. And as such, they are more difficult to take down without a proper strategy.

Think of these Nightlords as the “Arch-Tempered” monsters from Monster Hunter games. Completing an Everdark Sovereign Expedition rewards you with Sovereign Sigil, which can be traded for new Relics and Nightfarer Urns.

The first time you complete the Everdark Sovereign Expedition, you’re rewarded with 25 Sovereign Sigils. However, on subsequent successful runs, you only gain 5 Sigils. However, the amount of Relics and Murk earned via the Expedition remains identical across runs. As such, if you’re looking to farm the Sigils to get the new Relics and Urns, replaying the Everdark Sovereign is totally worth it. However, you aren’t technically missing out on much if you don’t replay the Expedition. The new Relics are good, but there are better counterparts that can be obtained via RNG.

Furthermore, given that the Empowered Nightlords are a significant challenge over the regular bosses, it’s only worth tackling them if you have a pre-made party. Playing the Everdark Sovereign with random players is not something we would recommend. However, if you’re looking for a challenge and plan to do solo runs anyway, we recommend playing the Everdark Sovereign over the regular Expeditions.

Is Everdark Sovereign Scaled for Solo (Single-Player) Mode?

Yes, similar to the regular Expeditions, the Everdark Sovereign is balanced for solo mode, with the Nightlords having significantly lower HP than in the multiplayer mode. In fact, if you’re having trouble taking down the Enhanced Nightlords in co-op, we highly recommend giving the solo mode a try. The Enhanced Gaping Jaw, in particular, is much easier to defeat in solo mode than in 3-player co-op.
