After months of anticipation, Diablo 4 Season 9 Sins of the Horadrim is now out and has brought with it an exciting new questline. If you’ve been following our guides for the season’s main questline, we were with Bryona, helping her deal with the threat of Nafain in “To Walk Where Spirits Tread.” Despite the threat being dealt with, there’s still a lot of work to do, and the questline continues in the “Reopening the Wound” quest in the game.

In “Reopening the Wound,” Bryona wishes to head toward the Scar, the spot where Astaroth was first sealed. She wants to perform a ritual there, and while the task seems simple, it is far from it. In this guide, we shall go over the Reopening the Wound quest in Diablo 4 Season 9.

You begin the Reopening the Wound quest by talking to Bryona in Tirmair. If this isn’t marked on your map, you’ll have to manually select the quest in your journal. Once it is marked, head over to Tirmair and talk to Bryona. Bryona will tell you about a gathering of Druids in the Scar and wants to partake in their ritual.

The Scar is directly east of Tirmair. Make your way toward this location, and you will be greeted by Davish when you arrive. Proceed through the dialogue, and you’ll then have to enter the area. Bryona will caution you to “be on your best behavior,” signaling you to keep your weapons holstered. The Druids are reluctant to share their ritual with you, so you do not want to make the situation worse by attacking anyone.

Keep following the quest marker, and you’ll reach a room with four Cleansing Incense. Interact with the Cleansing Incense to begin the ritual, which will then spawn a Fallen. Kill the Fallen, retrieve its head, and place the head on the nearby altar. This will spawn enemies in your location. Defeat the enemies and head back out to talk to Bryona and complete the quest.
