However, thanks to Sony’s surprise announcement that Helldivers 2 is finally coming to Xbox Series X and S sooner than players originally expected, the backlash has waned. Additionally, it is also the same day as the release date of Gears of War: Reloaded on PlayStation. This could mean that Console Exclusivity might be reaching its end. Helldivers 2 is Coming To Xbox Much Sooner Than Expected

Sony has finally announced through a livestream that Helldivers 2 will be coming to their rival consoles, Xbox Series X and S, on August 26, 2025, the same day Gears of War: Reloaded launches on PlayStation.

Xbox has made it publicly clear that they will be relying on third parties more, and they are not interested in investing in exclusives. However, this announcement marks a significant shift in PlayStation’s policies, as they prefer to release games on their consoles only, and we have not often seen them releasing exclusives to Xbox.

Helldivers have recorded a stable player base thanks to developer support, fun gameplay, and expansions. Nevertheless, the addition of Xbox players promises more waves of numbers and more soldiers who will gladly fight for democracy. To address this, Game Director Miakael Eriksson said the following on an Xbox Wire post:

“We know gamers have been asking for this for some time and we are so excited to bring more Helldivers into our game. We have so much more in store for the future months and years – and the more players we have the more stories we can tell! The fight for Super Earth has only just begun.”

Additionally, crossplay across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation has also been confirmed. So, players can play with anyone they want on any platform.

Helldivers 2 is Available for Pre-Order to Xbox Players

Since Helldivers 2 is launching on Xbox on August 26, 2025, which is only a month away, the Publisher has also opened the game for pre-order on the Xbox Store. Currently, the game has two different variants that players can pre-order.

The Helldivers 2 standard edition has a pricetag of $39.99, and it includes the base game and some pre-order bonuses such as the TR-7 Ambassador of the Brand armor. Alternatively, The Super Citizen edition of Helldivers 2 costs $59.99. As one might expect, this special variant includes the base game, the pre-order bonuses, and some additional exclusive rewards such as DP-53 Savior of the Free Armour Set, Will of the People Cape, Super Citizen Status, and more.
