The highly anticipated new mainline entry in the Digimon franchise is just a few months away from its official release date. Announced during The Game Awards 2024, Digimon Story Time Stranger is an action RPG with an RTS-inspired combat system. Furthermore, if you have played previous Digimon games, such as Digimon Survive or Cyber Sleuth, you will find yourself right at home with Time Stranger’s gameplay loop.
However, unlike past Digimon titles, Time Stranger also allows you to explore the real and digital worlds in 3D. Although not an open world in the traditional sense, the game does incentivize exploration. There are also improvements made to the game’s combat system to make it more approachable to new players.
With the game’s release date announced, Bandai Namco has also revealed a ton of details on Time Stranger’s pre-order. Here’s everything you need to know about Digimon Story Time Stranger’s pre-order details, pricing, and more.
Digimon Story Time Stranger Release Date and Platforms
Digimon Story Time Stranger is scheduled to be released on October 3, 2025. It’s also the very first mainline Digimon game to be released for the current generation of systems, i.e., PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Furthermore, the PC version is available via Steam only. Unlike Cyber Sleuth, Time Stranger isn’t releasing on previous generation consoles, i.e., PS4 and Xbox One. Although the game’s visuals haven’t received a major overhaul, it does target higher frame rates and resolutions on consoles.
Surprisingly enough, the game isn’t officially announced for the Nintendo Switch (or Switch 2). Additionally, there have been rumors of a potential Switch 2 version of the game planned for release in late 2026.
However, those are just rumors, and as such should be taken with a grain of salt.
Digimon Story Time Stranger Editions and Price
Similar to Bandai Namco’s other anime-themed releases of late, such as Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R, and others, Time Stranger is offered in multiple editions. There are essentially three different editions of the game: Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate.
The Standard Edition is priced at $70 and comes with the base game. The Deluxe Edition is offered at $100 and comes with an exclusive costume pack as well as the Season Pass. Lastly, there’s the Ultimate Edition, which is priced at $120 and comes with additional cosmetics on top of the Deluxe Edition content. Here’s a breakdown of the different editions:
