Use Star Pieces to unlock hidden skills and new dresses in Umamusume Pretty Derby, and here’s how you can do it.
In Umamusume Pretty Derby, there are many types of characters, each with their own special stats and running styles. However, like most other Gacha games, Pretty Derby also encourages you to pull for duplicate characters so that you can increase their hidden talents. Doing so requires you to collect Star Pieces, which are a very rare currency in this game. Moreover, it is easy for beginner players to not understand the importance of these items.

What Are Star Pieces in Umamusume Pretty Derby?
Star Pieces are a very rare type of currency that you mainly obtain by getting duplicate Umamusumes from the Gacha feature. Additionally, Star Pieces are exclusive when it comes to characters. In other words, there is a different type of Star Piece for each character in the game. For example, getting a duplicate of Mihono Bourbon will give you Star Pieces for her only.
You can also obtain Star Pieces by exchanging them for Goddess Statues or from different events in-game.
Using Star Pieces in Umamusume Pretty Derby
You can use Star Pieces to Star Unlock, which is a feature that increases the Star Level of your Uma Girl. You can do so by navigating to the Enhance Tab and then Star Unlock under Trainee. Do note that R-rarity characters start at 1 star, SR characters at 2, and SSR characters at 3 stars.
Increasing Star Levels takes quite a lot of Star Pieces, and the required amount decreases for higher-rarity characters. As mentioned before, you unlock/upgrade hidden skills when upgrading the Star Level of a character. At Star Level 3, you unlock that character’s special dress as well.
