In this guide, we shall go over how to beat Astaroth in Diablo 4 Season 9, the boss at the end of the Escalating Nightmare dungeons.

Diablo has always been about obtaining top-tier loot and fighting powerful bosses for more loot, and Season 9 continues this trend with Astaroth. Astaroth is the final boss of the Escalating Nightmare dungeons of Diablo 4, and this is one of the hardest bosses in the game.
Simply finding this boss is a gauntlet of its own. You first need to run through the Horadric Strongrooms, which hold the chance of dropping an Escalating Key. Once you have the key, you then have to use the key to enter the Escalating Nightmare dungeons, which is where you find Astaroth. There’s a lot of RNG involved in this whole process.
As you can see, it takes quite a bit of effort to simply find Astaroth, so you want to make the most out of the chance you have to fight him. The boss has a fairly simple moveset, which may seem complex at first due to the boss spamming the moves. If you’re struggling to beat this boss, our guide is here to help.

How To Beat Astaroth in Diablo 4 Season 9

To beat Astaroth in Diablo 4 Season 9, you simply need to understand and counter his moveset. You also need to understand how the boss works. Astaroth sits atop the Amalgam of Rage, a raging beast. You first need to beat his beast, which will then force him to dismount and fight you.
The first move the boss uses is a flame breath. In this, the beast shoots out three balls of flame in your direction. His face glows red just before shooting the flames, so look out for that. As soon as he charges up, run to his side and start attacking for a free hit. The beast also summons meteors, so you have to keep running about in the arena to avoid those. Once you bring the beast’s HP down to zero, it will be forced to regenerate in a pool of blood. Astaroth will then dismount the beast and fight you.
You have to stay away from the pool of blood. This pool of blood will keep extending as the beast regenerates, so you have a limited amount of time to damage Astaroth. Beat the boss within this timeframe, or you’ll have to fight the beast again. Since Astaroth has a much smaller health pool, this task is fairly simple.
