Orthworm ex plays similarly to Ferrothorn in the mainline games. Ferrothorn in the Pokemon video games has an ability called Iron Barbs, which causes chip damage to any opponent that makes contact with it while attacking. However, Orthworm ex takes this a step further thanks to its ability, Pummeling Payback.
This ability damages the opponent every time they attack Orthworm ex. However, for each Metal Energy attached to it, this will deal 20 damage. This makes attacking Orthworm ex a risky proposition if it has a lot of Metal Energy attached.
