College Football 26 released for all Xbox Series S/X and PS5 owners on July 10, 2025. It features major changes from last year’s College Football 25. However, it’s still the familiar college football experience with plenty of promising players to recruit, beating the Road to Glory mode, and more.
However, that isn’t to say that the game doesn’t have its fair share of problems. For instance, the Desync Error in College Football 26 has been bugging many players since the game’s Early Access release. In the following article, we take a look at what this error is and if you can fix it.
Understanding the Desync Error in College Football 26
If you are facing the desync error screen, you aren’t alone. A large group of the player base has reported facing a similar issue. The Desync Error appears to affect players during their online matches, especially when diving into the Road to the College Football Playoff. Either the gameplay becomes disjointed once the error appears, or you’ll be pushed out of the match completely. What’s even worse is that the issue seems to crop up when things start to go your way during competitive online ranked play.
It seems like the Desync Error occurs as a result of a miscommunication between the consoles and the servers. Basically, the game’s servers fail to synchronize the events that are taking place in the consoles of both players involved in the online match. Another important thing to note here is that the bug isn’t connected to specific teams or players. Instead, it’s a server side issue that only EA can fix on their end.

Desync Error in College Football 26: Is There Any Fix?
With so many players reporting the issue, EA Sports has acknowledged that the error exists, and they are actively finding a resolution. However, for now, we don’t have a timeline as to when a patch might release, bringing an end to the Desync Error. As a player, you can report the issue to the publisher whenever you face it.
Recording a clip of the Desync Error and sending it over to EA Sports might also help them analyze and resolve the issue sooner. Besides that, all you can do now is wait. It might take the developers a few days to release the fix for this issue. Until then, you’ll unfortunately face the risk of being booted off online ranked matches.
