In Rimworld Odyssey, your Gravship interiors can get pretty hot and uncomfortable without the use of Coolers. Coolers are the only method of lowering the indoor temperatures, and they even work when you take off for a space flight. You can install the Coolers by orienting their hot side towards the vacuum of outer space. They can also help you build Freezers in space.

In this guide, we’ll explore how Coolers and Freezers in Rimworld Odyssey can make your Gravship a comfortable and functional space.

Even though space lacks any atmosphere, the game still allows you to place Coolers in a way that they vent the hot air out into space. The cold side of the equipment will lower the temperature of any room inside your ship. Since the game allows you to install Coolers by default this way, you don’t have to use any external mods. Similarly, you don’t need to build an Exhaust Room since the Cooler can directly vent the hot air out into space. The vacuum of space can absorb all of the hot air the Cooler exudes without any limit.

As you might have guessed, Coolers have a big limitation. Since they can vent the hot air into space only, you’ll need to build these on the outer walls of your ship. So, trying to place a Cooler inside a centralized room or space that does not share a wall with space outside won’t work. So, Coolers will require outer hull placements to function properly and lower indoor room temperatures. Also, keep in mind that Coolers require constant power to function, so don’t forget to hook one up to a power grid.

How To Construct a Freezer in Rimworld Odyssey

Now, let’s move on to the second part of how Coolers and Freezers in Rimworld Odyssey work. You’ll need a Cooler to build a Freezer room on your ship. Follow the steps mentioned below.

  • Step 1: Pick any of the outer hull walls where you’ll install the Cooler.

  • Step 2: Now, place ship-grade walls and an auto door to create a sealed room along the outer hull. 3×3 or 4×4 are the best dimensions for a Freezer.

  • Step 3: Install the Cooler, making sure to face the red side towards the outer hull wall. This ensures that the hot air from the machine will dump into the vacuum of space.

  • Step 4: Use an RTG or a Chemfuel Generator to power the Cooler. And that’s all you need to create your own Freezer room.

Set the Cooler temperature to -2 degrees Celsius. You can then start storing food inside the Freezer room to keep it from perishing for longer.
