The ongoing Pet Mutations event in Grow a Garden has seen a host of new pets. For those unaware, pets are not just cosmetic companions. They give your crops a buff with their unique passive abilities. This article will focus on the newly added Dilophosaurus. It is a Mythical-tier pet introduced in the recent update. Let’s check out what it does and how you can obtain it in the game.
Grow a Garden Dilophosaurus Guide
The Dilophosaurus is a Mythical-tier pet with a distinctive prehistoric appearance. It resembles a small, bipedal dinosaur with a sleek, green body and darker green stripes. Its most striking feature is its vibrant, dual-neck, orange-colored frills.
Passive Ability
The Dilophosaurus has a unique ability called the “Frilled Reptile.” Approximately every 13 minutes and 53 seconds, it opens its frills and spits venom that affects 3 to 4 random pets in your garden. This venom either reduces the ability cooldown of these pets by about 40.82 seconds or grants them 570.48 XP, boosting their leveling or efficiency. This makes it a versatile pet for enhancing pet performance and experience gain, especially for players focusing on pet mutations and leveling strategies.
How To Get the Dilophosaurus
The primary method of getting this pet is via hatching a Primal Egg. The Dilophosaurus has a 3% hatch chance, so it may take multiple eggs to get one due to its rarity.
How To Get a Primal Egg
To get a Primal Egg, upgrade the DNA Machine four times by giving Barry (the Raptor NPC in the center of the map) a total of 280 kg of Prehistoric Plants. Once the DNA Machine is upgraded, use the crafting table near the Prehistoric Quest stall or the Blaire NPC to craft Primal Eggs.
Once you have the Primal Egg, go to a space in your gardening plot and plant it. It takes 4 hours and 10 minutes to hatch. Remember, there is no guarantee that you will get your desired pet out of the egg. As mentioned before, it might take multiple attempts before you hatch the Dilophosaurus.
