The Edge of Fate is the latest Destiny 2 expansion to hit PS4/PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The expansion has received mixed reviews on Steam, with many criticizing the story and lack of content. It is priced at $40, likely due to the shortage of content. This guide, however, will focus on one of the side quests in the new Edge of Fate campaign, particularly the Dark Academia side quest.

If you’re wondering how to get past the secret door and successfully complete the quest, you’ve come to the right place. Some players have also reported bugged steps during the quest, leading to further confusion. This is a comprehensive guide to solve all your woes and finally complete the Dark Academia quest in Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate expansion.

How To Open the Door in Dark Academia

Once you’ve arrived in Augur’s Bethel, you will notice a locked door with a shielded pylon. Unlocking it is much easier than you might think. You need to destroy three fuses to open the door. First, when facing the Dark Academia door, head down the ramp on your right. Below the ramp, you’ll notice a fuse—shoot it.

To find the second fuse, jump up to the second floor and grab the Mattermorph. With the Mattermorph, head back to the first floor to destroy a wall panel. After breaking the wall panel, you’ll be able to destroy the second fuse.

Next, with the Mattermorph, head across the pipe and turn right on the second floor’s platform. You’ll find another pipe that can be broken with the Mattermorph to reveal a fuse inside. As required, destroy the third fuse.

Once you’ve destroyed all three hidden fuses, you’ll need the Matterspark. The Matterspark is located above the train atop the second floor near the pipe flooring. With the Matterspark, return to the Dark Academia door and zap it to finally open it. Players can now interact with the orb in the room to start Ikora’s side quest.

How To Fully Complete Dark Academia Quest

The only thing left to do to complete the quest is to pick up the Aionian device on the floor—basically a golden orb. The next step is to look at the floor, press the “Scan Remains” button, and glance at the shrine in the back left corner. However, for some players, this section is bugged. To fix it, players need to complete the “Charge” mission in the campaign.

After completing the above and picking up the golden orb, you’ll need to return to the central hub of Kepler and speak with Dean Rebecca. Doing so will fully complete the Dark Academia side quest in Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate.
