Grounded 2 features biomes and bosses that inflict the Chill and Sizzle status effects. Walking into these encounters unprepared can put your survivor at a significant disadvantage, reducing speed and burning through health at a rapid pace. You can counter both these effects with the right armor sets and mutations. This guide outlines how you can mitigate the Chill and Sizzle effects by crafting armor, equipping the right mutations, and consuming food items.

Armor

Fuzzy Armor is a tier two set that significantly reduces the effects of cold with the ‘Chill Reduction’ perk. It is relatively simple to craft and requires farming a few different enemies around the map. The set includes:

  • Fuzzy Parka: Bee Fuzz (4x), Milkweed Tuft (3x), Lingonberry Leather (4x), Silk Rope (3x).
  • Fuzzy Hat: Bee Fuzz (3x), Gnat Fuzz (3x), Lingonberry Leather (2x), Silk Rope (2x).
  • Fuzzy Mukluks: Bee Fuzz (3x), Bug Rubber (2x), Lingonberry Leather (3x), Silk Rope (2x).

Once you have collected all the resources, head to the workbench and craft the armor set.

Mutation

Mutations can be equipped in your loadout and be your vanguard in a variety of scenarios. To combat the Chill status effect, equip the ‘Spicy Safety’ mutation. Eat a Spicy Shard to unlock the mutation. The mutation also provides Freeze and Shatter resistance in addition to Chill resistance after eating 10 Spicy Shards.

Food

Consumables, including spicy and warm food items, provide the ‘Chill Reduction’ perk for a limited time. These include:

  • Spicy Shards
  • Blazin’ Brew
  • Beetle Bites
  • Bratburst

The Sizzle Reduction perk reduces the Sizzle status effect and its damage. You can activate the perk by equipping the right armor set, consuming certain foods, and unlocking a mutation.

Armor

The Sizzling Armor provides the best protection against heat and Sizzle damage. Craft the set at a workbench after collecting resources for the following armor pieces:

  • Sizzling Robes: Bombardier Part (4x), Spicy Shard (5x), Lingonberry Leather (5x)
  • Sizzling Boots: Bombardier Part (4x), Silk Rope (3x), Lingonberry Leather (4x)
  • Sizzling Circlet: Bombardier Part (3x), Boiling Gland (1x), Lingonberry Leather (2x)

Mutation

Equip the ‘Fresh Defense’ mutation to gain Sizzle Reduction. To unlock the mutation, eat one Mint Shard. Eating 10 Mint Shards also unlocks Burn Resistance and Gas Resistance.

Food

Eat Mint Shards or Mintito to temporarily gain the Sizzle Reduction perk and reduce incoming Sizzle damage.
