The RTX 4050 mobile is an entry-level laptop GPU with 6GB VRAM. It offers similar, and sometimes better performance than the RTX 3060 mobile, and shares the identical VRAM configuration with the 3060 mobile. For gaming, you are best off with older titles such as the ones mentioned below. Modern AAA titles require more than 8GB VRAM on 1080p resolutions, and mentioning them here is out of context. Besides that, those titles are poorly optimized.

1. Doom Eternal (2020)

Both Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal 2020 will run exceptionally well, even with the Ultra preset, and even the Ultra Nightmare preset too. Doom games serve as a benchmark for how well games can be optimized.  If you turn on DLSS in Doom Eternal, then the gaming experience gets even better. Just remember to switch to DLSS 4 for the best image quality. 

2. Dark Souls III (2016)

Dark Souls III is one of those games that you keep on playing for years and years, and still have many things to learn and master. From Software built this game with the Unreal Engine 4, and the optimization is just right. GPUs like the RTX 4050 won’t even break a sweat playing the game at max settings. You can even enhance your experience with lossless scaling and fully max out your screen’s refresh rate with adaptive frame generation.

3. Metro: Last Light Redux (2014)

If you are into SCI-Fi, emotional, and horror shooters, the Metro Last Light Redux edition, with far better graphics, is for you. You can max out everything in this game, at 1080p, stay within the 6GB VRAM, and easily enjoy the game. Graphics-wise, you’ll notice that the 2014 title isn’t far behind the 2025 title. If you are a Stalker fan, then you probably have played Metro already,

As for settings, on both games, low settings will yield the most FPS, and medium will provide a decent balance between image quality and performance.

4. Doom: The Dark Ages (2025)

To play Doom: The Dark Ages, you need 6GB of VRAM at the very least to play the game. But at low settings, the 4050 can easily hit 50-60FPS at 1080p, in heavy combat, and mostly 70+ with DLSS in lite scenarios. Unlike Doom Eternal or Doom 2016, this game doesn’t run that well because it uses RT from the ground up, and it cannot be disabled. Instead, you can swap to the latest DLSS 4 Transformer model and Frame Generation model to reduce VRAM usage and then enjoy the game. 

5. Shadow of the Tomb Raider (2018)

An extremely well-optimized, yet visually pleasing title. SOTTR or Shadow of the Tomb Raider uses RT for shadows and Raster for everything else. As for VRAM usage, you will not cross the 6 GB mark even with high settings at 1080p.

With the new DLSS 4 Transfomer model, which you need to swap with DLSS Swapper, you can reduce VRAM usage and improve image quality, use an aggressive performance upscaling profile, and enjoy high framerates.

Verdict

All of these titles will run without an issue on the 4050 mobile graphics. Except Doom: The Dark Ages, all other titles will run smoothly above 60FPS, and with Lossless Scaling or Native DLSS Frame generation, can fully max out your monitor’s refresh rate.
