How To Cross the Canyon in PEAK’s Mesa Biome

Discover multiple ways to cross the Canyon in PEAK with and without the use of tools. Find out why exploring it might be worth the risk.

The Canyon marks the halfway point for PEAK’s Mesa level. It separates the lowland region from the mountain that players have to scale to reach the end of the map. However, before they can do so, crossing the Canyon becomes a challenge in itself. The Canyon is a vast ravine that stretches across the breadth of the map, with a deep chasm that holds treasures and threats in equal measure.

PEAK: How To Cross the Canyon

Since there is no shade around the Canyon, you will suffer heat damage while crossing it during the day. Either attempt to cross after sunset, or use sun-blocking methods like sunscreen or a parasol.

Scout Cannon

The Scout Cannon is the intended and most enjoyable way of crossing the Mesa’s Canyon. Select the cannon and place it at the edge of the canyon, angling it toward the other side. Once placed, the Scout Cannon cannot be moved again. Light the fuse at its rear and jump into the barrel to launch yourself across the Canyon.

You can find the Scout Cannon as a rare drop in luggage bags scattered throughout the game, not just in the Mesa biome. Using the Scout Cannon to cross the Canyon will also award you the Daredevil badge.

Chain Cannon

Although less dramatic, the Chain Cannon is also a perfectly viable option to cross the Canyon easily. Standing at the edge of the Canyon, shoot the Chain Cannon to a ledge on the other side. The cannon will create a chain bridge to the target point for players to traverse.

There is a minor stamina drain while crossing over the chain. Players will need to have a basic level of stamina remaining to use the Chain Cannon, as compared to no stamina requirements for the Scout Cannon.

Parkour

There are parts of the canyon narrower than others, allowing you to jump across without the need for tools. Explore along the length of the Canyon to find a spot where the rocky spires and outcroppings are bunched up together. Jump across the rocks and over to the other side of the Canyon.

PEAK: Why You Should Explore the Canyon

Besides serving as a giant obstacle on the journey, the Canyon offers opportunities for adventurous scouts. Descending to its lower levels, you’ll find luggage bags dotting the ledges and outcrops. The area is also crawling with Scorpions, which can sting you and cause poison damage. Venturing into the Canyon, looting, and making your way back out is time-consuming but recommended if you’re running low on supplies.
