Solo mode is one of the least appreciated aspects of Elden Ring Nightreign, and for pretty valid reasons. From the very start, Elden Ring Nightreign has been advertised as a multiplayer game, with a focus on three-player co-op. Although Nightreign does have a two-player mode, it’s a very recent addition and wasn’t present in the launch version of the game. The whole game is built on the idea of three players going through the Expeditions.

However, Nightreign also has a single-player mode, which comes with its own dedicated balancing. That said, since the game is built around co-op, the solo mode is often overlooked by most Nightreign players. Given how the game is structured, solo mode can be incredibly overwhelming, even for souls-like veterans. However, it’s also an aspect of Elden Ring Nightreign that deserves way more attention than it gets.

Here’s a comprehensive solo mode guide for Elden Ring Nightreign, which will help you reach Level 15 super fast and easily defeat Nightlords.

How To Level Up Fast in Elden Ring Nightreign’s Solo Mode

One of the biggest hurdles many new players face when setting foot on Limgrave is leveling up fast enough by the end of Day 2. In Elden Ring Nightreign, apart from the Relics you acquire at the end of an Expedition, nothing is permanent. That also includes the Levels. As such, you start every new Expedition from scratch, moving from Level 1 all the way to Level 15. However, with the added time restrictions for Day 1 and Day 2, leveling up fast enough isn’t an easy task. This is where you need a proper pathing strategy.

While the map is randomized on every new Expedition, the points of interest remain static. You might find different enemies and bosses inhabiting said points of interest, but the general structure of them and the map as a whole remains the same across all Expeditions. The best way to level up in Nightreign is to tackle things in order and set a level-cap for each day. For instance, the recommended level for the end of Day 1 is Level 7. For Day 2, the recommended level is Level 13. Once you’re Level 10, going up from there is easy, granted you have enough time.

However, the biggest issue is hitting the Level 7 or higher mark by the end of Day 1. Here’s a strategy that we have found to be the most consistent when it comes to leveling up in Elden Ring Nightreign’s solo mode:

Day 1

  • Land on Limgrave and tackle the first small camp. Defeat all the enemies in the camp as quickly as possible to reach Level 2.
  • Next, head to the nearby Cathedral, Dungeon, or Fort. Before defeating the boss, look for the loot chests in the area, and specifically for an Evergaol Key. Defeat the boss and level up to Level 3.
  • Head to a nearby Evergaol (most Cathedrals have an Evergaol close to them). Defeat the Evergaol boss and take the Runes. This should help you get to Level 5.
  • After that, you ideally want to head for the Church near the lake. Get the flask upgrade and kill the boss outside the Church. Note that if it’s a Day 2 boss, we recommend leaving it for when you’re Level 8 or higher.
  • After grabbing at least 2 Churches, head for the Central Castle. You want to defeat the boss underneath the Castle at Level 5 or higher. After defeating the boss, head up to the upper floors of the Castle and defeat as many Elite enemies (Crucible Knights, Banished Knights, or Trolls) as possible.
  • This should keep you engaged till the rain closes in for Day 1. Once you see the rain closing in, head out of the castle and complete one or two affinity camps before going to the Night Boss.

Day 2

  • At the start of Day 2, you have three options: head for an Evergaol (if you have a spare Evergaol Key), complete the rest of the Central Castle (which will boost you to Level 12), or head for a Shifting Earth.
  • We recommend completing the Castle in the first half of Day 2, and at the start of the second half, you can either kill some overworld bosses or head to the Shifting Earth (if any are active).
  • Ideally, you want to clear the Castle by the first half of Day 2. However, if you don’t have enough time, it’s best to focus on field bosses instead. Also, if you encounter any raid event, make that your priority, as that’s a great source of Runes and also an additional passive buff.
  • Before ending Day 2 and making your way to the Night Boss, make sure to grab at least one more Church. Also, if you need to visit a mine, make sure to tackle that on Day 1, ideally the first half.

Additional Notes for Elden Ring Nightreign Solo Mode

If you’re running short of a few Runes to hit Level 15. You can dip out into the rain. However, make sure to keep an eye on your health bar. Don’t stay too long in the rain unless you absolutely need to.
