Learn about the best skills to invest in and those to avoid while training for the Taurus Cup Champions Meeting in Umamusume: Pretty Derby.
The Taurus Cup is the first Champions Meeting in Umamusume: Pretty Derby. The Medium race takes place at the Tokyo Racecourse with three teams of three veteran umas competing to have one of their runners cross the finish line first. In addition to high base stats, this competitive game mode requires a well-tuned loadout of skills to gain an advantage. The list largely mentions the rare (golden) versions of skills; consider their standard counterparts to be a tier below them.

The bolded skills are passive (green) skills that have guaranteed activation because of the race’s static conditions. They are inexpensive and provide a +40 increase to their respective stat. Upgrade them to the first tier if you have the opportunity. Upgrading them to the second tier is cost-ineffective, as it only increases the bonus from +40 to +60, but it should be done if no other good skills are available. Explanation
- S Tier: Investing in these skills will make a drastic impact on your uma’s performance. Rare stamina skills like ‘Swinging Maestro’ and ‘Gourmand’ can restore HP worth nearly 250 points of Stamina, making it easier to meet the minimum Stamina requirement of 1,100 and focus on Speed and Power.
- A Tier: These skills may not activate at the perfect time like their S Tier counterparts, but nevertheless have the potential to improve performance in the last spurt
- B Tier: Although powerful in terms of bonuses and speed boosts, these skills have a close to 50:50 chance to deliver value upon activation. The only exception is ‘Sunny Days,’ which you should invest in if Guts is below 260 or Stamina is below the minimum requirements.
- C Tier: Skills in the C tier are notoriously unreliable and have a low chance of activating at the right moment.
- D Tier: The activation conditions of these skills make them unusable, like ‘Iron Will’ restoring Stamina if blocked in the early race. For others like ‘Long Shot,’ your runner will have to be in a bad position to activate them, making their effect meaningless.
